Thank You so much! You have been so helpful! I guess I do not do and adequate enough job saying that in German. Another question for you guys. What are the differences between a German, Austrian, and Swiss accent? I am going to Bonn, DE next year and was wondering if I learn to speak fluent German will I be able to pick up on those with accents.

hm. the difference is hard to explain. but when you hear it, you will learn to hear the differnces. I'd say austrian accents are still easier to understand than Schwiizertütsch!

they sure are...but even understanding an Austrian can be very hard if you only speak German

it's kind of like the difference between british and american English if you are a native speaker you can understand the other but if you are not it can get quite hard....

Austrian German has it's own words and even a few grammar rules of it's own....but everyone here speaks standard German if needed to

i think the differences between american and british english is not that big. and i can understand both. i have problems to understand people from scotland and sometimes australia

and i have to confess even i don't understand everything when i listen to someone from switzerland. austrian german is ok but "schwizerdütsch"
