Sorry. Have never mounted a scope. Mostly used iron sights and aiming bead.
That is alright. And yes, you must have had great eyes and stuff for this. I know nothing about guns nor own any, but joined this thread to try my best, as I have basic knowledge about AI and physics, and guns use physics.

Ooh, so the AI helped you? I am glad that it worked, so at least half the problem is solved. But yes, hopefully this works well for you. Also, if there are any other people at the range, you could always ask another gun owner for help with the scope adjustment. Who knows, you might make a friend at the range.

But yes, I do agree that over reliance on AI is a byproduct of isolation in the US. We need a balance between human interaction, and artificial intelligence.

The sighting In part was ok but not on the paper, without firing a shot. How many millimeter shim under the front of the base would raise it up enough to make 8 inches at 100 yds or meters whatever is easiest. At2500fps, considering flat trajectory. Is this scientific enough?

Alright, we know that a minute of angle at 100 yds equates to 1.047 inches of height. So, that means we do not even need the speed, as we can assume the trajectory is flat.

So, 8 inches / 1.047 inches per minute of angle is = 7.641 minutes of angle = 0.127 degrees of angle. If you shoot high, you would have to raise the part of the scope underneath the front scope mount by 7.64 minutes of angle relative to your current setup.

Now, can you tell me the length between the shim and the scope mount opposite of the shim? Then, I can use some trigonometry to calculate how many mm of height for the shim based upon the angle.

No, no it’s 11.5 inches long. I wish they were only 4 inches, so much neater, but rare.
11.5 inches from the first mount to the second mount? If so, then I can do the math shortly.

Ok, assuming 5 inches from rear sight (the sight closest to your eye) and front sight (the sight closest to the barrel), you would have to raise the front sight about 0.011 inches, or 0.28 mm.

Math below:

@MForbes and @Unqualified , did I math right? MForbes, just as background info, I do not own any guns, but I am halfway decent at math, so I volunteered to help Unqualified with his iron scope, cos hunters have got to put food on the table, and a properly adjusted gun would help him with that.

Here is a sighting tutorial for Unqualified: Video: Sighting-In a Rifle

Alrighty then. I’ve been shooting for over 50 years now, so I figured I’d give him the easy way to fix the problem. Have fun with the math.

Haha, yeah, I have only shot for a few weeks at a summer camp in 2012 and 2013, and I did not like it that much, as the archery class was more interesting and was not loud (the cheap dollar store foam earplugs for riflery class sucked at camp). Hey, thank you for giving Unqualified the easier way. I am all mathed out for today.

What got you into shooting? Was it the deer or almost free food, or the target practice? I am only 24, so you have two lifetimes of experience in this area.

Nice. Also, fresh turkey can be hunted as well. My parents and I never hunted, cos it is too much work to skin a turkey or deer, and both my dad and I get grossed out by blood and organs.

I’m not a hunter anymore. I’ll sure try your suggestion @AlexB23 . It would be a miracle. Should I see what perplexity thinks?
Yeah, try my suggestion first, then ask Perplexity AI. If all else fails, listen to @MForbes' suggestion about Burris Optics inserts, as he has been using guns for twice the time I have existed on Earth. And hey, target practice is good for hand-eye coordination.
