I'm so glad I am accepted here! I'm in western North Carolina and I'm a hodgepodge of Catholic, Episcopalian, and Baptist.
I believe I am saved by My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I was baptized in His Name in 1974. So I mostly am a Baptist.
I know Jesus is our Savior. I'm a retired Army Captain and I saw a lot of messy wars because I was a photojournalist. I was shot in Bosnia but I made a full recovery because of our Lord's grace and was able to continue my Army career for many years after.
But I became a widow at 38 with a little daughter just entering college. My precious husband -- although his faith was strong -- became unable to weather the storm of depression and too many medications which caused him to take his life.
Many friends blamed God; I didn't. My sister blamed me for his taking his life. She's an atheist and told me, "No wonder he killed himself. He was stuck with a Bible-thumper." That's what atheists think about us.
I can't have any contact with her anymore for obvious reasons. She hurt me too much.
So now, here I am with my second husband who is awesome! When we're cleaning house, we sing "Awesome God." My daughter is now 32 and an RN in the Navy, married to a Marine lieutenant and I have a grandson!!
I'm a retired Captain, my new hubby is a retired Master Sergeant and believe it or not, we met at the VA.
I work at WalMart as a Customer Service Manager, and hubby works for a security company at a plant. We're the proud staffmembers of 8 cats and a very large dog in a cute little house. We teach people how to invest and how to live on less than their means and we also fix and build computers. It's a nice business and .... I'm the accountant danggit LOL!
Anyway, I'm glad to be here and to meet you all!
God bless you and with purrs,
Saavy
