Dear Brother, the only sin not forgiven is blaspeming the Spirit. Once God converts someone, their sins are blotted out, never to be brought back before them ever again. Christ paid that penalty for "whosoever believes in Him". We will be always in a battle with our adversary in this world. Read the book of 1 John. Then in Romans 7, Paul stated he found nothing good in the flesh, for when he did good, evil was present with him. If you get to the point you don't struggle with sin, watch out.

Satan comes against God's children as a thorn in the flesh...the same thorn that Paul prayed to God three times for removal, of which God told him His grace was sufficent for Paul. Hang in there and be engaged in prayer to Him. I will leave you with this passage...

"Who shall separate us from the love of the Christ? tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (according as it hath been written -- `For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long, we were reckoned as sheep of slaughter,') but in all these we more than conquer, through him who loved us; for I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor messengers, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things about to be, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, that [is] in Christ Jesus our Lord."(Romans 8-35-39 YLT)

I just found this passage Matthew 3:28

"28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:

29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:"

I was worried I blasphemed but Jesus is saying that they will be forgiven.

Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost was put this way from a Christian write up I just found.

The man said,

"The unforgivable sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is an act of resistance which belittles the Holy Spirit so grievously that he withdraws for ever with his convicting power so that we are never able to repent and be forgiven."

So for me to put it in my head that I was never forgiven was wrong.

To catch up really quick with my story is 10 years ago I thought I made the unforgivable sin and gave up since why would i continue if in my head I was never going to be forgiven. Here I am 10 years later with a burning desire to really follow Christ but once again having to come to some conclusion did I wait too long and grieve the Holy Spirit? Or is the fact that I still have a desire to follow good enough to prove I have hope?

I do know some Christians follow maybe as a child or a teen and then have a falling away only to be brought back at a later time in life.

I surely hope that is me.

We need more detail....what is it that you did exactly?

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Hi Jayblue,

Every sin of man can and will be forgiven for the one who believes, repents and chooses to follow after God on His terms.

Here are the terms. Love the Lord your God with all that you are. Not 'know' the Lord your God, but 'love' the Lord your God.

God asks that we love Him in the same way that He loves us. He has given the very precious life of His one and only Son. He has sought our love through the word and the Son and the Spirit. What He asks of us is that we, in turn, love Him.

My testimony is that if you are willing to strive for this kind of relationship between yourself and your God, that all of your sins will be forgiven. The question my friend is not 'will God love me', but 'will I love God'?

God bless you.
In Christ, Ted

No Brother, we don't need more detail. That is betwixt you and God. It's none of our business. I'll just keep you in my prayers. Hopefully others will do the same...

You're right. I deleted it. But it is hard to get others opinion unless they know the topic you need understanding on.

Thank You

When the Holy Spirit moves to reveal Christ to you, when your heart is hard and you reject Jesus. Essentially you are calling the Holy Spirit a lier. You have rejected Jesus, the person has then blasphemed the Holy Spirit. The Lord knows our hearts, he knows when the final rejection of Jesus happens. A true Christian cannot comit this sin. He has come to Christ. All of his sins are forgiven.

Here's what blaspheming the Spirit really means: rejecting the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you die refusing the gospel of Jesus Christ — or even if you live in rejection of it — you will not be forgiven. Why? Because the first thing the Spirit/gospel says is that you are a sinner and need to repent turning to God.

Now you can live in rejection all your life and at the last moment, repent (Acts 11:18, Jas 5:15) and be saved. Forgiveness comes from repentance in the name of Jesus Christ whereby God declares you "justified" or "just" in His sight — you have the righteousness of Christ imputed to you.

There are steps laid out by Jesus in Matthew 18. IMO, James 5 is suited for the local church and/or going to someone in person, and not to be aired out in a public internet forum...

If he wants to go the PM route with you, that's another matter altogether...

And yet I consider the exact opposite the actual context of Matt 18 vs James 5. ceste la vie. :p

Whether you people know it or not Satan, has me a grip. His grip is so strong that if I try to leave my master chastises me and makes me shut it.

No man can have two masters
Do you know how to escape? If you believe what you say, then a demon, some false thing in which you trust, possesses you. He's gotten into your very nature — your soul or conscience. From there, he "guides" you ("Let your conscience be your guide.") to destruction. He will not come out until you, personally, 1) cause him to leave and 2) replace his nature/doctrine with God's nature/Spirit or "Guide."

Are you with me? The doctrine/demon must be destroyed and it can only be destroyed by making God's truth your "master" — that is, scripture. So right here, right now, pray God to take away your sin guilt and sin/demon nature in the name and blood of Jesus Christ and receive His truth — that "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Ro 10:13) Not only will you, "believing with your whole heart"/will (Acts 8:37) be justified, reconciled to God, but He will give you His nature and His image — the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost against which Satan can never prevail again.

What you are bound by are the thoughts and intents put in your heart by the devil. You need to start all over "as a child" (of God) learning from the Spirit, the Bible, the doctrines of God. Old things must (and will) pass away; behold, all things will become new.

It's just like this blaspheming the Spirit question of yours. You desire not to blaspheme but you don't have the spiritual "eyes" to see what it is. So the answer to that is to trust the Spirit who you blasphemed — trust the scriptures, and not what you "understand!"

I blasphemed the devil all along and he has me thinking I did it to God.
