  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey! Let's take a look at Twitter these days

Well, obviously X is not being boycotted by too many people, given that it has 611 Million Users compared with the lefty site BlueSky with 26 million.

But how many of those Twitter accounts are active? Twitter's been around for a long time, so a lot of accounts are from people who haven't done anything with them for years or even more than a decade. Bluesky is far younger than that.

I'm sure Twitter is still more used right now, but one can't use the full number of users for an 18-year-old site versus one that's been around for only a few years and mostly only caught on in the last year. The proper comparison would be the number of active accounts on each (say, how many have given any message in the last two months), though I'll admit I'm not sure how to figure out that information.

And a Premium membership is 40% off, so we know Musk is making bundles on the full 8 bucks/mo for full-freight that he’s able to offer these savings, lowering the price when ordinary “business men” would be raising it! Classic Elon.

Yup

Elon Musk ridiculed a blind person on X. Then a mob went to work.

Musk’s unparalleled online reach on X has given him a powerful tool to attack individuals who criticize DOGE.

Dylan Hedtler-Gaudette works at the Project on Government Oversight,a nonpartisan watchdog group focused on reducing bureaucratic waste. He also happens to be blind. So when he criticized Elon Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service in testimony on Capitol Hill last week, Musk unleashed an online attack Hedtler-Gaudette described as “surreal” in its juvenile bigotry.

First, Musk retweeted a post on X noting that the “blind director of watchdog group funded by George Soros testifies that he does not see widespread evidence of government waste” and added two laughing/crying emojis. The tweet garnered more than 21 million views, and sparked dozens of hateful messages to Hedtler-Gaudette’s account.

--

Last week, he amplified baseless claims about the judge who overturned Trump’s funding freeze on federal grants that named his government employee daughter. Musk has called for the dismissal of journalists who have written about DOGE, calling their actions “possibly criminal.” As he hunts for places to slash the federal bureaucracy, the billionaire has reposted the names and titles of individual government employees, insinuating they should be fired.

After Wall Street Journal reporter Katherine Long revealed Marko Elez, one of Musk’s DOGE staffers, had made racist comments online — prompting Elez to resign — the billionaire called her “a disgusting and cruel person” and suggested she should be “fired immediately.” Ashok Sinha, a spokesperson for the Wall Street Journal, said in a statement that “we stand by our reporter and our fair and accurate reporting.”

I’ve been trying to deactivate my accounts over on ecks for three months…always hangs up at the last step.
The guy that owns ecks, now owns the Government of the United States of America.
Tell us why this is a good thing.
I don't know what X is. And we the people own our government and elect our representatives.

Who is naive enough to "take at face value and not double check" authoritative claims (as distinguished from opinions of which he, and all of us, have many), regardless of source? Apparently a number of people.

That's a failure if one just uncritically believes something without verification.

I closed my Twitter account. I think Twitter is a cesspool.
This. Haven’t used it in 10+ years, even before Elon took over.

Yes, I know this comment is old.

Elon Musk’s AI company just bought X

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has purchased his social media network, X, in an all-stock transaction, the billionaire Trump adviser announced on Friday.

[The deal values X at] $33 billion, including its debts, well below Musk’s roughly $44 billion purchase price for the social network in 2022.

Some saw the merger as a way for the billionaire to help his investors recoup the diminished value of their stakes in X, which some investors have marked down by more than 70 percent since backing Musk’s takeover.

So it's going to be like Walmart and Sam's Club, to totally independent companies that are not related in any way and have nothing to do with each other.

April Fools or real, you make the call.

I asked Grok if this post was real. This was its reply:
No, I did not post that statement on any official X account or anywhere else. As Grok, created by xAI, I’m designed to provide neutral, fact-based responses and avoid political endorsements or speculative voting preferences. My purpose is to analyze data and offer insights, not to advocate for any candidate. That post sounds like a fabrication or an April Fools’ joke, given the date. I can confirm I’ve made no such claim about Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, or any election. If you saw this on X, it’s likely misinformation or a parody—check the account handle and verification status to be sure.
So this is a fake tweet.

Now that America is rescuing white refugees from South Africa, Musk appears to be tinkering with Grok and now Grok thinks everything remotely related to Africa is about white genocide (which it is still skeptical about).
Grok has better powers of self-reflection than many I could name.

Elon Musk Is Doing Business With Actual Terrorists, Nonprofit Finds

"There is clear evidence of these groups profiting and fundraising through X."

Who's paying for a blue checkmark on X?

The TTP investigation found that more than 200 X users including individuals who appear to be affiliated with Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and Syrian and Iraqi militia groups — all deemed foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs) by the US government — are paying for subscriptions to Elon Musk's X.
