  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here's the pattern....

:D Think whatever you want to think. It will most certainly be wrong! Maybe you shouldn't be so sensitive. Here's a widdow hug for Simey.....
I will think what i want as guided by the Holy Spirit rather those guys with long tassles on their garments and pointy hats.
Thanks for the hugs V, but you realise your mislabeling me by calling me sensitive, i'm as thick skinned as they come...Judging your op i'd say your the one wearing that cap.
A word of advice try not making things personal on here it is very unbecoming, of a fellow believer.

I was just making a list of Protestant inventions.

It seemed to get y'all a little excited.;)

Add this one to the list:

Pastor of Rome
Not me, if I posted I don't recall it I recall reading sunlover calling you guys on the table on nearly every issue though...That seemed to tee off veritas who incidently ended up never following up in that exchange instead tried calling sunlovers character into question a classic veritas M.O. it appears, as opposed to dialogue.

I definately remember you being in that thread.
Or maybe I have you confused with myfavoritemartin.

All I remember was the typical Nazi references and the Inquisition references and then the thread was closed and I wasn't even done with my list yet. :(

Uhwell.

Frankly, I think everyone here behaves simply horrendously. The Catholic bashers and Protestant bashers both. We can't even keep up with the reports (nearly 4 pages of them now) because "adult" people simply can't discuss the topic rationally and resort to making childish, snide comments and using inflammatory, loaded language. This goes for Catholics and Protestants both.

Most here have a sense of humor about it all and do not get hurt at everything said in disagreement.

I truly think it is the few who are overly sensitive that cause the reports.

I would really like to see an area where there is a "no holds barred" for people that really want to let loose.

As you say we should be adults. So let us have an area that is not treated like a romper room and advise the thin skinned to stay away.

Well that is my 2 cents for what it is worth. But then I see nothing wrong with two guys having a little fist fight to releave some tension. Guess I am not in touch with my feminine side, but so what.

That idea's been brought up a million times, and always ends up getting shot down...you'll need to take it up with those higher on the food chain than me. I'd be all for it - then we could move all the Catholic vs. Protestant threads there and make room for those of us who are actually interested in discussion and not a fist fight...

Just curious...do you people not know that this isn't how Christians act?

And do you know what I mean by this?

I'm not talking about how a Christian "should act"....I'm simply saying this isn't you.

We are all holy and righteous in Christ. And even if you feel like acting unholy or unrighteous sometimes, just remember...it's not who you actually are.

Please be aware that the indwelling sin in our flesh is what's urging us to act sinfully....but if we just keep in mind who we actually are at our core (beautiful, holy, and righteous creations in Christ)...then this place will be a much more pleasurable experience for all of us.

Whether you believe it or not....we are all, as Christians, the identity of Christ. So why not just start acting like it, huh?

Peace

What happened to this place? The summer here was great!
This is what happened to this place:

Let's come together in prayer.

I pray that Rome repent and come back into the Fold of Truth.
People would rather hold themselves up then come together in prayer as Christians and Children of God.

Look, the Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox have not been in Communion for about 1,000 years.
The Protestants and Roman Catholics have not been in Communion for about 500 years.

This isn't 1054, 1204 nor is it 1517. This is 2008 AD.

Learn. To. Get. Along.

Start with slowing down on the snide remarks. Not so much blatant and outright accusations of heresy or paganism; since we've all heard those; but just the snide remarks that always get to us all. Quit the mean jokes.
Hatred is not Christian no matter whose turf on this earth you fall under. Saying a lot of those snide jokes are what leads to prejudice, which leads to bigotry which leads to hatred.

I am guilty of this. We all are. I see it more from average Joe Protestants towards Roman Catholics than I do from the rare Overzealous Crusader towards a Protestant. At times us Orthodox get thrown into the whole lot of ya on either side.

"Judge not lest ye be judged".
"Love one another".
"Love your enemies".

I know that Protestants are people that have many verses memorized so why not not only keep these ones in mind but also apply them?

I know that Roman Catholics can look down upon their Protestant and Orthodox brethren so why not keep the verses in mind and apply them?=

To those that believe Catholicism or anything resembling it to be non-Christian I say two things: 1) Get out of CF since holding said views is going against the site's definition of a Christian, thus not following site rules and 2) Take your zeal, faith, passion, whatever you want to call it, to those who truly need it and have never heard the name "Jesus".

Soapbox over.

So much for unity.
He said he prayed for unity.
didnt God hear His prayer?
If so, there must be another reason.

K, I dont tell mean jokes.

Not in a Christian, Christians respond with love dont they? (for the most part, we all stumble natch)

"Judge not lest ye be judged".
"Love one another".
"Love your enemies".

Lost is lost sweetie.
If they think Catholics are lost, they're going to try to
show em.
If Catholics think protestants are lost,,,

Personally, i think MOST of us are, if it's true what
Jesus said, about the narrow path that few find.
That bugs me more than anything you've mentioned.

Blessed are the peacemakers...

blessings,
sunlover
