  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here's the pattern....

Cuz Catholics stay rational and on point. We actually try to answer their "questions" no matter how baited and loaded they are.
okay simple question "Is there salvation for those NOT subject to the pontiff of Rome?"

Please, the spirit of Christ has been indwelled in believers since pentecost. People like the theif never needed all the sacramentalism your church preaches...

True.

Even the ignorant and misguided can be saved.

BUT the teachings. ;)

Amen!

I ask a question and am accused of baiting and then they never answer. How can you have a conversation when the other person gets answers from you and they refuse to give answers?
That depends on where you are putting your bait ^_^

Any thread started by a Catholic questioning or pointing out errors in Protestantism is derailed and closed. It's quite easy, really. All you have to do is start fights that proceed into flaming, personal attacks, mocking, baiting, way off topic posting, etc.

Consequently, there are now numerous anti-Catholic threads that dominate this fora. And you can't even point that out without the thread getting closed. I must congratulate some of our Protestant brethren for their crafty tactics. We Catholics should take a page out of your playbook! I hope we don't, however.

Now, the big question is, how long will this thread stay open?

Now that I'm about to post the half-life of this thread just got a lot shorter.:D

What I find interesting in that last thread is that yours and my posts were pretty much limited to listing what we thought were Protestant errors and inventions. I mean most of my posts were limited to one or two words. Then came the cries of Protestant bashing and pictures of Catholic priests with Nazis, and jokes about burning people at the stake and so off we go.

Anyways, I found that thread to be quite enlightening. I'm glad it at least got started. It's raised some more questions for me.

The problem is that the only thing Portestants all seem to share is a hate for Catholicism and so they are unable to express any unity amongst themselves in any other fashion. ;)

*In my opinion.

No, Jack, if that were true that would be at least refreshing, but fact is, like all things Protestant, even their disdain for the Catholic Church isn't a unifying belief among them.

Try debating atheists, jews and muslims in unity with every denomination under the sun telling them different this and different that.
Divided we fall.........

Personally veritas I think your one of the top anti-reformist skilled at inciting the flame wars simply by taking challenges to your doctrine personal, and then constantly indicating some kind of disdain for males by degrading your conversation to testosterone comments.
BTW what's the topic here?

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I've only been on GT for a couple of days. Whereas you consider GT to be your mission field. Believe me, I don't take this personal at all. In addition, I'm very comfortable with my femininity and wouldn't care if someone said anything about my estrogen. I suppose if I were insecure about it, I would be offended.

Nice try though Simon. You're skilled at projecting. That means that you accuse other's of the very things you're guilty of .

Hey I get along with all denominations of Orthodox, Catholism and defective Protestism.
Isn't this about converting us poor lost souls back to Roman Catholicism? I mean, what are you trying to accomplish here outside of OBOB? Just curious.

Oops!

You forgot something. Marriage is the unity of two souls and the Church is unite to Jesus as his bride. Jesus plus church equals UNITY as ONE.

As an ECF said... "You cannot have God for the Father with out the Church for a Mother."
