  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here I go.......

Someone once also suggested I make a list of the things I'd want in a significant other. She said to list the traits in order of priority. According to her, the guy I'm considering should at least fulfill the first five or else I'll never be satisified with him. I never made the list nor had the chance to test her 'theory' so I can't say with certainty if it's true. I've had a mental list of the traits I want in a guy, though, but it seems that as I get older, the shorter it gets. It's either I'm getting more mature or more desperate that I'm decimating the items on my list. :sorry: Seriously, I think I'm learning to to wait on God more, put His wants before my own.

Off the top of my head, here's my list:

1. A mature Christian who loves God with all his mind, heart and soul. Someone who's willing to follow God's will no matter what the cost.

2. Intelligent and witty, doesn't mind intellectual sparring every now and then.

3. Knows how to laugh, listen, and understand when silence is more valuable than words.

4. Loves dogs and meeting new people, is an insatiable learner, and looks like Legolas.

Okay okay. I was joking about the Legolas bit.

I have my list in my head.

It's also a good idea to put that list on paper. And remember to put it somewhere noone else can see it. And when you do meet that person, you get to go get that list and see what great things God has given you from your list and also see what wonderous things he gave you that you did not even think about. It's just one way to see just how great our God is to us

Ecclesiastes 1:1-11 NKJV

The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher; “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.” What profit has a man from all his labor In which he toils under the sun? One generation passes away, and another generation comes; But the earth abides forever. The sun also rises, and the sun goes down, And hastens to the place where it arose. The wind goes toward the south, And turns around to the north; The wind whirls about continually, And comes again on its circuit. All the rivers run into the sea, Yet the sea is not full; To the place from which the rivers come, There they return again. All things are full of labor; Man cannot express it. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, Nor the ear filled with hearing. That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, “See, this is new”? It has already been in ancient times before us. There is no remembrance of former things, Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come By those who will come after.

Anyone have any clue of why I brought this old post back?
