• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I recently was diagnosed with OCD. With all kinds of terrible thoughts it has me worried that I have commited the unpardonable sin. I sometimes wonder if that is why I'm getting all these thoughts, instead of the illness. Any help is much appreciated. Randy.
Welcome Randy!

The thoughts are the illness. It's not an easy road, but you can feel better.

Tell us more about your thoughts. I already know you haven't commited the unpardonable sin, but it's helpful to know where you are coming from.

Thanks for you encouragement Seajoy. The thoughts I'm having are inapproriate sexual thoughts.
Well, those kinds of thoughts don't have anything to do with the unpardonable sin.

Please listen to what your doctor says about ocd therapy. It will be of great help to you. You are not a lost cause. You can't help on what thoughts your ocd gets stuck.

God loves you, and knows your heart.

How long did it take to get over? And what meds were you on Ryskee182?
Have you started on any meds yet?

I have taken several for 14yrs.
Prozac
Buspar
Trazodone

They have helped me greatly. I've also taken Lorazapam and Seroquil for anxiety.

God Bless the road you are on.

I'm on paxil and respiridal right now, but they don't seem to be helping too much yet.

Hi,

I have had a big time struggle with feeling I had comitted the "unpardonable sin" over and over for the past 8 months. Some days and weeks have been better than others. I feel I am just starting to have a string of several good days. I have taken Lexapro (40 mg - my MD says ocd requires a higher dose than depression, but check with yours for sure) and Clonipine (1mg nightly for any anxiety). It takes a while to feel better, in part because you'll have better success if you have some kind of therapy. For me, therapy was less successful than this website:), my pastor, prayer, and of course God's Grace . Hang in there my friend.
