• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey butterfly,
that sounds so free....just a thought......ok do you talk with someone? you do know thats the first step in fixing the problem....do your parents have a clue? do u trust them enough to tell them? maybe the youth pastor? but you need some one to talk with, maybe even you family dr.....that might even be a good start.
after awhile bulimia starts messing with your electrolites and causes inbalances...after time..so please seek out someone, and i am here if you need to talk more, i have been through that.....no fun. I will be praying for you..and asking the lord to take away your pain....

I think it is encouraging that you recognize that your binges are disordered behavior. Seek help through someone you trust, guidance counselor, youth pastor, mentor, parent, whoever...Most importantly stick with it and demand your right to health. I found Beth Moore's books Breaking Free and Praying God's Word to be helpful. If I could impress one thing on you it would be to get support and accountability, you can't get through this healthily by yourself.

Thanks guys. I'm feeling a lot better today than i was yesterday and the day before. I haven't binged today, I haven't even had the urge to. I realised the reason why God wasn't helping me get better was because I had the wrong motives. I only wanted to stop binging in order to look good and get people's approval. I've changed my motivation so now I'm doing it for God. My motivation is not to loose weight but to improve my self-control. I feel like a huge weight has lifted off my shoulders because now I don't care about the loosing weight part of it, I just want to do it for God! I'm going to take your advice and find someone to help me through it. Thanks again guys for replying to my message!

love & hugs

Hey Girl,

I can relate because I had your problem as well for about a year, what you need or should do is tell someone you trust, it will be very hard but you can do it, next stop believeing that you are not skinny or that you are too fat or weigh too much, start eating healthy and get exercise, you will feel so much better about yourself and life. You can do it and I encourage you to go for it!!:) This is God totally rox friend by the way! A girl.
