Help with Questions

Being very new in my life in Christ, I am trying hard to get my husband to understand things that I feel now since I have accepted Christ. My husband is very book smart and reads a lot, whether he has been reading the right "Book" is not the question here, but he trys to always debate with me that although he believes in the very basic principle of God, he wants questions answered about the proof scientists have about how old the Earth is compared to the bible and also about evolution. Please if anyone could point me in the right direction... I dont have all the answers and I have tried the approach that The bible is Gods inspired words by dreams, visions, etc but his faith is not there - so please anything would be greatful.

Science and creation go hand in hand. They don't have to contradict each other. You just need to study for yourself (something I'm still doing).

I would also recommend The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. He was an athiest when his wife became a Christian. An award winning journalist, he quit his day job to write a book that would prove Christianity is false. He ended up becoming a Christian based on the overwhelming scientific and factual evidence of Christ's claims.

Lee and Leslie Strobel also wrote a book called Surviving a Spiritual Mismatch. I highly recommend it (my husband is also not a believer, yet )

Finally, come to the unequally yoked forum in the Marriage Ministry section of these forums. You will find great support for others in your situation.

Before my husband came to know the Lord, he read a book called "Bruce and Stans guide to how it all began".
It brings the science and creation together.
I will pray for you as I know what it is like to have a unbelieving spouse.
The best thing I found was to let the Lord come through me, I found trying to prove myself or my faith to be a waste of time.

A note of caution from one who learnt the hard way:-

Answer questions as simply as possible, without uneccesary detail.
Leave him interested and ready to ask more later, rather than getting into heated debates or lecturing him.
And
Don't allow him to "bait" you with stacks of tough questions just for the sake of it.

Those sites should be helpful too - either for him to look at, or for you to gain more understanding to deal with questions.

I took a look at some of the sites posted here for you and most (all?) are coming from the Young Earth perspective. I would like to recomend an organization of Bible believing Christians that discuss what your husband is asking about, but from an Old Earth perspective, just for balance. http://reasons.org. They discuss things like why evolution is incorrect, the evidence of the acurracy of the Bible, and scientific discoveries. Their resources are as basic or deep as is needed. I hope this helps.

I'm going to second the recommendation for Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. I found christ in about may of this year, and have read and discussed that book with friends and mentors and it really galvanized my faith.

Not to say it's a bible replacement But he makes a great case for christianity (he was once an atheist and converted, so I found many of his examples applicable to me, as I was once an atheist myself.)
