Hi,
I've been dating my girlfriend for a while now but we've never kissed. I think she wants to and I know I do... But I will be perfectly honest in saying, I don't know how... This is very embarrasing for me because I guess I think it's just one of those things you know and I don't... So I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice and help me. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

I think it's perfectly okay if you don't know how. I don't believe learning how came naturally for me right away. I honestly don't think she'll care if you don't know how to kiss. You'll learn how by kissing her more and more. I ended up pushing my boyfriend away when he first kissed me. It just felt so strange to me. I didn't have a natural reaction of what to do. However, eventually after awhile I was able to relax and then things did start to come more naturally for me. It may take time, but you'll get it. If you don't want to be the one to make the first move then let her. Let her kiss you first and just follow her lead.

lol...I remember my first kiss...it was with Marissa (my girlfriend)...I will never forget that day! I totally had no idea how to kiss...and I was terrified of when the time would come. We were sitting next to each other...and I leaned over to kiss her on the cheeck...and she kinda pulled me into her mouth and we kissed. I totally was not expecting it...nor was I ready for it! And you know what? I kissed horribly! But you know what? She loved me...and she continued to kiss me...I loved it. So I just went with it. Later on...you will both learn what kind of kisses you both like. So it's kinda of a new learning experience for every new couple - even if they've kissed someone else before...its always new with a new person. So don't worry about it. I know I worried about it...and it was the stupidest thing I could've done! Because once we had kissed...I felt so incredibly awesome...I was speechless! Don't worry about how you do it...that will all get fine-tuned in time anyway!

Heck, some of us (me and my wife) waited until the alter! We were nervous it would look awkward for the pictures because we hadn't practiced, but it worked out fine!

And I'm personally glad I waited!

It seems to me like it's ALWAYS sort of awkward with a first kiss...even if you've both kissed before. Wait until you are ready...you don't have to kiss each other if you aren't ready. You both may want to save your first kisses until engagement or marriage. If not, make sure you're both ready for it and don't make out lol. Seriously, that will get ya into some trouble. Don't sweat it though, first kisses are a little awkward and are supposed to be...she won't hold it against you that you have never kissed before. I think it's sweet when a guy hasn't kissed before.

Yeah, that's why I'm waiting til engagement and not the wedding day. I'm definitely an introvert and LOVE my one-on-one time.... and kissing for the first time in front of 50-200 guests would kinda ruin the moment for me. Everyone is different though... perhaps for some, having it in front of their close friends and family would make it more special

ILD, don't sweat it. Kissing is something you eventually figure out for yourself. I thought I'd be terrible at it, but, lo and behold, I was actually quite good, hehe.

The first kiss is often awkward- but it's always a beautiful moment you'll treasure forever. If your girl is a non-judgmental person, she won't hold it against you for not being able to kiss "correctly." As I've already said, you'll learn pretty quickly. Trust me on this one...

hehe...great thread...brings back memories of my first kiss with my fiance. I wanted him to make the first move, and we were just sitting on a bench in a park and he was stroking my face but not doing anything else...and both of us were just sitting there on pins and needles waiting for him to get up the guts to get it over with, I think we sat there for about 20 minutes beforehand. It was a little awkward, but really not too bad, and afterwards we were even able to joke about how we both knew what was coming...

whatever you do, don't drool on her chin...that doesn't tend to go over so well...I've had friends experience this before and they've never said anything good about it...

Very encouraging to read this thread! My boyfriend and I are waiting until our wedding day and, well, meeting people who don't think that's extreme or that you're nuts is rare! Historically, the kiss has been to seal the marriage, and it's so so intimate that I'm really glad we're waiting for that! I was REALLY worried about kissing in front of our families, but we decided it'd be just a peck and then we'll sneak away for our real first kiss. I think it'll be really romantic! I HAVE kissed a boy before, though, and it HAS to be slow the first time instead of banging heads or trying for a rushed hollywood kiss. Once lips meet gently, you want to firm them and tighten them a bit. If I could go back, though, I'd definitely save that kiss for marriage-it arouses one so much physically and emotionally that... well, not to seem really legalistic or anything, but it IS kind of a danger before marriage. It's human nature to just want more and more, so keeping it distanced that way, I think, is the ultimate.

That's my two cents!

That is such a cute idea for waiting til your wedding day! To sneak off for your first real kiss. aww. I have never kissed, and I am still debating if I want to wait until my egagement or wedding day, or if I just wanna go for it. I'm leaning more towards the wedding day one, but I'm not sure.

Personally, having my first kiss alone with him (engagement) would be much more romantic and sweet than having it in front of lots of people, including my family (wedding day). In all honesty, if I had my first kiss ever in front of my family and friends, that'd completely ruin the moment for me...

Of course, when I talk about kissing, I mean closed-mouth kissing, and nothing too long or lingering. No French kissing until the honeymoon for me.

Be careful though - a lot of kissing can lead to a lot of other things.
