I am an anthropologist, and I see my study as a particular subset of biology. A weird subset, because we study a weird creature- humans and their closest kin.

However if you were an anthropologist who studies the origins and development of mankind...
Er...as far as I'm aware, evolution isn't a belief on origins. Evolution is an ongoing process. Sure, it can be used to explain from which species other species arose, but it makes no claim to ultimate origin like creationism does.rainbowpromise said:Since biology is the study of life, I don't see the problem with what your belief is on origins.
However if you were an anthropologist who studies the origins and development of mankind, then you would have issues with creation vs. evolution. As well a geologist would have some isssues with creation vs. evolution.
Biology and creation are not at odds with each other unless you are crossing over into another science.

Of course they go into this stuff about how no one is perfect. But I told him that when he kept the sabbath, then so would I. He did not think he would ever be able to keep the sabbath, but somehow he wanted or expected me to.
faster_jackrabbit said:Yeah, origins is a whole different theory, abiogenesis. Evolution talks about what happened after life was already rolling along.
FEZZILLA said:Evolution theory teaches that live came from non-life. Don't confuse it.
If evolution is a postmodern view of paganism, then why does the Pope accept evolution? Why do most Christians worldwide accept evolution?FEZZILLA said:Continue teaching you loved one the Biblical truths. Do it with love and concern. Evolution is a postmodern view of paganism which has always been a rebellion against God.
Just because you don't understand the words doesn't mean they don't mean anything.Make sure she understands what you are telling her! That is important!! Evolutionist use big fancy words that mean nothing, but ignorant people just hear them and say, "ok."
You mean like the big fancy pseudo-scientific words that creationists and ID proponents use when they pretend to be scientific?FEZZILLA said:Evolutionist use big fancy words that mean nothing, but ignorant people just hear them and say, "ok."
faster_jackrabbit said:No, it is not the same. There are no choices for math and science. Math is math and science is science. There are many choices for religion. Will they be exposed to any of the others? Or the option of none?
As long as they are christian? Will they be familiar with anything else?
Well, that's a better answer than I got from the original poster.CFpetRESCUER15 said:Now I was just going to read, but I decided to put input on this on thing.
Of course they will. In high school on of my best friends was Muslim and he & I had several great conversations about religion. My oldest brother was best friends with a boy that was Hindu. He never spoke of his religion much.
My best girlfriend in college actually tried different religions and came back to Christianity.
We all live in a big world and have to learn to deal with all aspects of it. Had a great Sunday School class where we got completely off topic and the kids were asking me questions about different religions and such. I had no problem answering questions and telling them why Christianity differs.
I am also a parent and yes if my child is asking me questions I am going to answer with the knowledge I have and challenge them to find more information. I will admit I know where I hope they go but that definately doesn't mean that is where they will go. Especially with my oldest, she is always questioning and pushing her limits. lol
faster_jackrabbit said:One last question: do you force the kids to go to church, or is it totally up to them whether they go or not?

rainbowpromise said:All five of my kids were raised in public school and taught evolution. One child even went into college level science. All five decided that creation made more sense.
I'm scared to ask that question anymore, sometimes the answer is too unpleasant. Did you know there's an FLDS church in a small town in BC (Bountiful)? Polygamy and everything! There are weird things happening everywhere.Illuminatus said:Let me guess...you live in either Alberta or Newfoundland.

Sorry the mom pops out sometimes and I can't stop it.
We can all have different opinions, we don't call names.
