My girlfriend is missing me right now and I have no way of telling her that it's going to be alright. She's very depressed at times and all that I feel I can do is pray and ask God for guidance but I don't seem to get any guidance. Really what I should be asking is that I've been trying to believe for a long time now and I don't feel any different. I'm still the great person I was born to be but I don't feel any greater. It's almost too impossible to feel any better and it is as if I am not feeling any emotion right now as I write this. What more can I do?

Seek God. As you would seek a treasure, with all your might. Emotion or no emotion. Find time to think about Him. Find time to talk to Him. We connect with Him through thinking about Him and talking to Him in our thoughts.
Seek earnestly and diligently, as if your life depended on it, (which it is) and then you will find. He promised: if you seek me with all your heart, you will find me.

When you find a real connection with Him in your spirit, in your heart, He will guide you on your way.

In reference to seeking guidance for your girlfriend's depression, that is something she should request herself. If she is not motivated enough to do so then it is highly unlikely that she will accept any suggestions you give her.

Your problem in feeling disconnected from God can be due to several problems;depression, lack of faith and failure to obtain the Holy Spirit in your life being the most common. In brief, remedies for these problems include becoming more physically and socially active, limiting your time with others who are depressed, becoming more spiritually active by listening exclusively to a Christian radio station and attending church twice a week (Sabbath service and mid-week Bible study) and then finally ,after you have engaged in those activities for at least several months, praying regularly for the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit" which will bring you into a personal and yes emotional relationship with God.

DEFINITELY WHAT YOU NEED !

the best thing you can do is be there for her any which way, if you cant physically be there for her than pray for her and truly mean it from your heart

It sounds like you are earnestly seeking God without the Savior, Jeff. Have you received the Lord Jesus into your heart? One can have no relationship with God without His "beloved Son" --the only Savior and Lord for us. The truths and pathway of God will then begin to open to one. Read your Bible daily, friend!

Talk this over with a pastor or a Christian friend. And once you are assured you have accepted the salvation of the Lord by repenting of any sins (you'll know them by your own conscience) and asking the Lord for forgiveness. If needed ask the pastor or friend to pray with you.

Then begin to pray daily and read the Gospels ...this season the Gospel of Luke would be a great place to focus..

Trust in God to help you with all else including how to handle relationships. But remember..to commit to God first.

God bless you and give you grace and the gift of faith! :amen:
