I would love to help you. What are you struggling with? The thing to remember is that some people only speak as people. The answers to all your questions are in the Bible and only there. I would love to help you locate them if you can let me know what you are seeking answer to.

Hi Skylark...

See, that's what's confusing me. If all of God's word is in the Bible, why is there so much debate about it? Didn't he leave things clear enough?

Well, read it and find out for yourself. If you see a religion that starts trying to force its way into the bible, then you know its false. The book is there for all of us to read, not just for preachers to tell us what is in it. As a matter of fact, as a christian its our responsibility to study it.

OK, but some things in the Bible are just so hard to understand.

Jeffy,

If you are more interested in debating which church is God's "one true church" than having your questions answered, you are in the right forum. :)

You said that you are "looking for Christ." That is wonderful. I think that sometimes people get sidetracked and instead search for a church. It is about a relationship with Christ.

Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that he died on the cross for your sins? Have you confessed to God that you are a sinner, and turned from your sin to Him? Have you accepted His gift of eternal life?
Romans 10
9That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”

Revelation 3
20Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

I agree, and I think its good to hear what others think, but if it goes against what you know to be true from reading it yourself, then keep what you found out. I dont think any of us have it perfectly understood, and sometimes the wisdom contained therein doesnt hit us overnight. One tip that might help, is to try and memorize key words in the verse you have trouble on. Then as you keep reading relative subjects will tend to pop up. Or you can also use a Strongs concordance to help cross reference. Ill help in any way I can, but always remember, dont just take my word for it. :)

Thanks. So how do I know, then, if there is one right church or if they are all right?

Hi Jeffery,

I'd find a church which encourages you to read the Bible and not just take someone's opinion on what it says. If you read a little a day, everyday you will learn a lot. Try praying before reading, and ask God to help you to understand what you are reading. Also, there are many translations of the Bible, I like NIV which I find easier to understand.

Mostly, you just have to visit churches and find one that helps you to know God better. I'm so glad you are seeking Christ, he is seeking you. I hope that helped a bit. Blessing to you--you are doing good!!!!

Good advice. God helps Christians understand the Bible. Those who don't understand it ever, probably aren't Christians. You really have to keep reading and praying.

Pray and study, and listen to thoughts, feelings, inspirations , and go where you sense that you are being guided to. If you honestly are seeking, and are try ing all that you can do, God will lead you to the truth.

Jeffy....there is always one main thing to remember when you are coming to a church and discovering a new religion and what you want in it.....this is important to remember, do you want a church that believes in Christ Jesus as the savior or just another man or prophet? Because, as Christians, we believe that Jesus is the savior and there is no other way to heaven. That's all I can really help you with....I'm not great with this stuff.

Hi Jeff, have you read Romans 10:9 & 10?

That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

What Zippythepinhead and others have communicated today (Romans 10) is valuable.

In combination with the previous posts, prayer is extremely important. Many of us (especially myself) struggle with our faith in that we usually think through things logically and use our human understanding. There is definitely an essential role that this sort of thinking plays in our faith. However, we can do things that are challenging, not automatically intuitive, yet rewarding. Trying to open up to what God is saying (e.g. in the Bible) is one. Prayer* for such things as understanding (e.g. understanding the Bible, etc.) should help.

*Note: God answers all prayers - even "no answer" is an answer. For example, one way that we may think that God does not answer includes: Since we have free will and it often conflicts with God's will, He often "tells" (not that we necessarily hear His voice) us what is best for us (His will) and generally we can choose (although it is often not conscience choice) to - 1) listen and follow, 2) listen and ignore what we've heard or 3) not be open enough to even hear.

Summary: People can help us learn more about God, but ultimately we need to open up and put our faith in Him.

What Zippythepinhead and others have communicated today (Romans 10) is valuable.
