• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have been to the RCC church and the charismatic branch, and a priest visited from Germany. In his service people were laughing. And one girls of 20 years also laughed hard for maybe an hour. After this she testified that a long standing inner pain had gone.

I am believing for a healing of my brain, for a recreation of order in it, rather than a healing gift. Which I recommend.
Thank you.

I want to get salvation and be raptured up when jesus comes. Does anyone have any advice for me?

According to your avatar name at least, it appears you already love Jesus. Why then would you ask for salvation? Like saying you want to get it as though you do not have it. Do you believe He will deny salvation and forgiveness to you simply because of your mental handicaps? Like it just wasn't meant for you? I ask this seriously. I agree with what the good @Zoii has said in response to you.

Not because of my handicaps, but I have heard that very little will go to heaven and I am very scared of hell.

Thank you. It is difficult to believe when you were born like I was and have been suffering for 27 years.
I have had chronic lyme disease for five years. Nothing the doctors offered has helped, including some very high-priced lyme specialists. Their high-powered antibiotics are not suited to chronic illness. They cannot support or rebuild the body's systems. However, they can really take them down in a big way. In short, they have to potential to do more harm than good.

I am on herbs now, and making slow but steady progress. I went the prayer route, but for whatever reason it didn't work for me. However, I still believe in healing, because the Bible asserts it, Jesus asserts it, and neither it not He can lie. So even if the healing doesn't come overtly from prayer, the positive prayer of faith is crucial to getting well. Bless your body and brain and thank the Lord for them. Keep positive. As Philippians 4 tells us, rejoicing in the Lord will be a protection for you. Science has proven that our attitude affects our body and our chances of healing. Sometimes God works alongside other means. Our job is to find what works, consistent with the principles He has laid down, and go with it.

I personally would do some research on the use of herbs for the protection and repair cognition and mood.

Wide is the path that leads to destruction, and narrow the path to life. 85% of people who are revived from near death, who see something, report seeing the light. And it is about loving Jesus and answering well in regards to, "what have you done for your fellow man?". Got to start by loving yourself.

You need to be professionally tested before you can call yourself retarded. It sounds to me like you are just different. I'm different, I even identify with a lot of what you said, but there is nothing wrong with my intelligence. Unlike a beehive, human society requires a broad spectrum of differences to succeed. Instead of focusing on your unique limitations, focus on your unique strengths. Your unique limitation is merely the shadow of the unique strengths you carry; a strength which few others have.

Im sure its mental retardation. Its not a difference its just that way I perceived the world says something is very wrong (sensitivity to light, balance difficulty, difficulty sleeping, head pain , difficulty understanding people no matter what they are talking about, difficulty understanding reading, being unable to relate to people. Im sure its serious brain damage or dysfunction that I have)

I can feel emotions such as love care and excitement (even though im in pain) but I have no idea if others feel this way, so when I talk to people I have no idea if im being annoying or making them angry with my random thoughts or comments.

Have you seen a doctor about these symptoms? These sound quite concerning. If you haven't, you need to go as soon as they have an appointment. Don't put it off, call for an appointment because it sounds like a brain tumor.

but I have heard that very little will go to heaven and I am very scared of hell.

Well, the kind of Christians who put ideas like this into your head just might be greatly mistaken. It is a tool of religious fear. I do not say this condescendingly; like many others likely are, I too was a victim of this kind of fearful and negative thought process due to common Christian thought that life is some game of souls where odds are, God has it in mind to ultimately place you in some eternal carnival of physical and/or mental torments. The Bible simply does not point in that direction, and there's no point, I eventually was able to decide for myself via the grace of the Holy Spirit, in believing like this anyway.

That "very few will make it to Heaven", and most are destined for Hell, is a defeatist belief and attitude and really dims the light of the Gospel. It is called "the Good News" for a reason - not "the good news for precious few, and very very bad news for the rest of humanity". I know it is very difficult to shake the fear of Hell, or fear that God never loved you and lets you suffer in life because either you've done something to permanently screw up and forfeit your salvation status or that He pre-destined all along for you to never belong to Christ because He just doesn't want you or something like that, but with the grace of God you will in time be able to look at Him in more love, care, and guidance, and less in fear (the bad kind of fear, that is, like terror; obviously when Scripture mentions the fear of God it is a kind of reverence and awe - and there is a clear difference between these two kinds of fears).

I can relate so much to this. I have schizoaffective disorder, a disorder similar to schizophrenia, and it really damaged my social skills. I act like a mute most of the time. I can say basic words, but otherwise i just have to act like a good listener.. it's very frustrating. I've heard a way to deal with this is to force yourself out there.. it's very hard though, so it takes time, and very small steps I guess. I've tried to do this thing where i tell myself over and over, "this isn't that important. fear is what i should be fearing here because i have too much fear," "fear is my enemy"

Think about this, the best socializers are the guys that have the least shame. They're not necessarily rude, they're just capable of speaking very smoothly, joking smoothly whenever possible, and all that smoothness comes from them not being insecure. So we have to find ways to be like them because we're like the opposite. There are a lot of annoying people out there, so I guess we just have to not fear looking so out of line.. because we won't. And if some find us annoying, oh well that's life.

Being a little annoying never killed anyone lol.. but I still have a lot to learn. I barely put this stuff into practice. I try to pray more and more, and that can help too i'm sure. Sometimes I learn a hard lesson very fast because God taught me it in a prayer. He like sped up my development at times. And when i repeat the good truths, I keep in the back of my mind the thought that God lives in my heart, and at any moment he can turn my faith into a leap forward.

I have autism, is nice to know what your problem is, i actually identified autism in me after reading a lot of it symptoms etc and what people wrote they lived in autism forums.
The doctor also says i have it.

The important part, is if you want Jesus and live the christian life, with autism or problems or not, here on earth and in heaven is very importaqnt and a lot better to have God in our side.

I attemped suicide 2 times. One a couple of months ago when I took 15 Asprin pills and another 7 years ago when I also took 15 asprin pills. I took them one by one at the same time. I never went to the doctor for it. Now I have these serious stomach pains that come and go every hour. What should I do?

Thank you. Are you also unable to understand the world the whats going on around you ? Like understanding peoples point of view, what they think and why they do things?

Everything I do is always guessing. And with my condition its very unlikely I will be right or ever think normaly. Being unable to function properly is scary.

I have these same problems. Have you ever received insight from the lord in dreams or visions about your situation?

No dreams or visions, but after 'praying' a lot, some autistic people get this 'shutdowns' or 'meltdows', i never got meltdowns but yes shutdowns, like i was saying after praying a lot i don't get shutdowns anymore in heavy social situations.

It seems that a lot of autistic people have some spiritual problems on top of autism.

If you can get a diagnosis or after reading a lot about it you identify autism in you then it can be good to convince your family, i don't think you are going to hurt them, because they could understand that you have issues with autism and understand you a bit more i don't know.
