Hello Christianforums,

My name is sh and im a 10th grade high school student here in the U.S. About a year ago i met this guy on the interent and we were talking for about a good 20 minutes about his fincial struggle This man claims to be a pastor from India, who has to support many children. I said i would send 10 dollars or something(not a very good idea), but i wasnt sure if this guy was really a pastor or a scam. So i gave him my email address and for the past 3 months he has been emailing me over and over asking for money to support his ministry. Im not going to send anything because, im not 100% sure if he is a scam or if he is for real. Anyway, i need help with decieing if he is truly a minister. Are there any questions i can ask him,(e.g. if he has a liscence), im really confused on how i should handle this matter.

Your heart is in the right place and you wise for being discerning. First off, in your post here, edit out your full name...that gives out too much info...especially since you have already said you willing to donate...some may take advantage of you being so young.

As for this supposed pastor from India, his multi emails seem to be a red flag of something amiss and deceptive...he probably knows how old you are and should realize that you wouldn't have a lot of money...sounds like he playing on your emotions in 'hopes' that you would ask your parents to give you more $$$ for such a 'worthy' cause.

Would be wise for you to either block his email address or get a new email yourself. In terms of giving, concentrate on your hometown, school, youth group, and its reputable charitable organizations. :D

I completely agree with HumbleBee. If you are receiving so many emails from this person, it shows that he is not respecting you. There are other places which could use your ten dollars. I would not give in this situation, and I would not put out my personal information... the internet is great, but you have to be careful, you know?
