  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello brothers and sisters, my name is Jim. I became a Christian just over 1 year ago and have been inserted into a truly wonderful and loving bible based church. I am having a tough time lately with my wife and life in general. She is a non-beleiver and well.... I am now. She brings me down soooooooo much into the secular world. She is stubborn as a mule and refuses to beleive in God. I do not evangilize much to her as this just causes serious relationship issues. We were married 6 years ago and had a son 1 month after the wedding. I am in this marriage for him. We do not fight very often if at all as I often turn the other cheek so to speak. God called me and made himself known to me. I didn't go looking for him or anything else like that. Ever since that day I have felt a strong calling to become a pastor. I have no religous background in my life what so ever. I love God with all my heart but how I am I supposed to serve him when my wife doesn't beleive in him and does not offer up support. I don't think I am supposed to leave her and beleive we were brought together for a reason beyond my knowledge.
On top of that I feel the call to leave my job and begin to start my calling... if that's what it is. Prayer, advice, encouragement, whatever is welcomed. I feel so far away from God sometimes as I get caught up in her world. I want to draw near and stay near....Help

According to what you said above, it may sound like you are unsure as if you are called to ministry. If God has called you to ministry, He will work it out all for you. You won't have to worry about a thing. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Just trust in the Lord with all of your heart. Don't stop praying for your wife. God still works miracles. Pray for God's will in your life as well. Also, be patient. Don't be anxious for anything. Things like this takes time. In the mean time, absorb every word in the Bible by studying at a daily time. I'll pray for God's will in your life.

"But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace." - I Corinthians 7:12-15

"Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear." - I Peter 3:1-2

Though I Peter 3:1-2 speaks about an husband being won by the chaste conversation (lifestyle) of the wife, I think the opposite also holds true. If you will keep yourself in the will of the Lord in the obedience to Him to the best of your ablity, and serve the Lord with all your heart, and trust Him daily with all you needs, you will build a godly household. And the life of Christ will be evident in your life, despite what you wife thinks. If you love your wife as Christ loved the Church (Ephesians 5:25), then she will see Christ in you. Don't try to preach at her, but just love her with the love of the Lord that you gain by being in a committed relationship with Him. His Love will flow through you to her, you see. You be the best husband and best father that God makes you to be. Be the spiritual leader in your home. Pray daily for your wife and your son. Do your part and let God do His.

I know of a number of people who either are in (or have been in) a similar position to yourself. Our role in bringing people to know God is to expose them to who we are ... God's role is to reveal Himself and bring then to know Him. Sometimes it is easy to forget that.

The first and most important this is to love your wife for who she is, not for what she believes. By loving her as Christ loves His Church, and partnering with someone to pray with her, you will be a better witness than trying to convince her to believe.

James.

This post speaks closely to what I would say. If God is calling you into the ministry then you are facing your biggest challenge..your wife. Pray for her, and keep yourself involved with the church you attended. You are going to see alot of resistance on her part, and truly I could not say what she'll do. God will deal with her heart. Maybe through you, God will soften her heart.

If it's not easy for Christian marriages, I can really believe it seems even harder for mixed marriages with non-Christians in it. But still, if we're to believe comments like Eph 5:21-6:2, we have to believe Paul was talking to many mixed marriages in the Ephesian church. Christianity was just too new for it to be otherwise:

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself Ep 5:25-33

I know it's tough to care sacrificially, but ... Christ did when it was toughest. You're following in some pretty big shoes when you care for your wife this way. And you're inspiring more examples to the church -- and to your child.

To your urge to become a pastor, I have to say it, and I'm saying it standing on Scripture itself: don't. Not yet. One of the qualifications for the pastorate is that your family believes. When they come to see your love for them, when they see the Christ behind that love, and when you see it so clearly that you can practice it freely, then you will be equipped for the pastorate. The Spirit knows what's in store, and your feelings are not for nothing. But they're just not yet for now. Patience, brother. It takes a mature believer, one whose whole household believes, to be an elder leading a church. It's in your heart for a reason, don't try to fulfil that reason too soon. Build well and wisely on the desire.

Well my dear brother in Christ,

You are about where a multitude of other Christians are.

The enemy will try to destroy all Christian marriages.

I will be straight forward to you, and speak what is coming to my heart, after reading your posting.

Before you can go and fix up anyone else's backyard, you have to fix up your own backyard. Forget the ministry.

If you went into ministry under these circumstances I can assure you that you will be destroyed.

There is a strong demonic force in play, which would be referred to as being the Jezebel spirit.

Your wife is an unbeleiver, therefore she thinks you are foolish. The Jews thought the same of our Lord Jesus Christ. And the world thinks the same about the Gospel, because it all sounds foolish to those who don't believe. Stubbornness is a spirit.

You need solid prayer to bring your wife to our Lord Jesus Christ. You need prayer partners, because you can't do it on your own.

You cannot go into ministry if your wife is an unbeliever.

You have a big spiritual battle on your hand. And the only way you can beat it, is with spiritual things.

There is an old saying that you can't make a mule drink water.

Also, I cannot accept that our Lord would place on your heart, to go into ministry, when your wife is an unbeliever. I believe that Satan is at work here.

I am sorry if I appear to be hard on you, but Satan is in background.

All you can do is be a loving husband to your wife, and pray for her salvation.

Whenever there is an argument always make sure that the sun does not set on anger.

Please pray this prayer that follows for your wife. Also I have posted some verses you need to read and to pray the prayers that are listed with the verses as well. I pray that these prayers will help:

SPIRITUAL WARFARE

ON BEHALF OF ANOTHER

(Can be prayed daily!)

(Delete underlined portions whichever is applicable!)

Heavenly Father, I/we come to You through our Lord Jesus Christ, I/we take authority over all higher powers of controlling spirits, and I/we bind off all of your power from interfering and manifesting in the lives of my/our family/families (or individual’s name or names)!

I/We bind the controlling spirits, and command the spirits in all of my/our family/families (or individual’s name or names) to release them now, so that they can receive direct ministry from our Lord Jesus Christ!

In Jesus’ Name---you---the higher powers of those controlling spirits that are troubling my/our family/families (or individual’s name or names), I/We take authority over you!

You will not destroy their lives, their home, their friendships, and I/we will not permit you to do so!

I am/We are seated together with our Lord Jesus Christ in spiritual authority!

I/We know my/our position and rights in our Lord Jesus Christ!

In Jesus’ Name, I/we bind those controlling spirits to silence and control of my/our family/families (or individual’s name or names)!

You, controlling spirits take your hands off my/our family/families (or individual’s name or names)!

Heavenly Father, release their will, so that they may be free to accept our Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord, Saviour and Master!

I/We seal their bodies in the Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ and I/we ask You, Heavenly Father, to place Your protecting and ministering angels around my/our family/families! (AMEN)

GUIDANCE:

Most new Christians always ask about the future, wondering how their new life is going to work out. We can ask, “What about God's Will for our life”, or “Will HE really lead us”?

Well the following verses will give us our "Assurance of Guidance":

"With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgement. Always let HIM lead you, and HE will clear the road for you to follow" (Prov. 3:5-6).

DEFEAT, WORRY and FEAR:

"Together you are the body of Christ. Each one of you is part of HIS body" (1 Cor. 12:27).

"Don't let evil defeat you, but defeat evil with good" (Rom. 12:21)

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and I am the body of Christ, and Satan has no power over me, because I overcome evil with good, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

“Children, you belong to God, and you have defeated these enemies. God’s Spirit is in you and is more powerful than the one that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and I am of God and have overcome Satan and his forces, because HE that is in me, is greater than he that is in the world, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

“I may walk through valleys as dark as death, but I won’t be afraid. You are with me, and your shepherd’s rod makes me feel safe” (Psa. 23:4).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and I will fear no evil. You are with me, Lord. Your Word, and Your Spirit comfort me, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

“You will be built on fairness with no fears of injustice; every one of your worries will be taken far from you” (Isa. 54:14).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and I am far from oppression, and fear does not come near me, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

“Weapons made to attack you won’t be successful; words spoken against you won’t hurt at all” (Isa. 54:17).

“They are like trees growing beside a stream, trees that produce fruit in season and always have leaves. Thos people succeed in everything they do” (Psa. 1:3).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and no weapons made to attack me will be successful. But, whatever I do, I will prosper, for I am like a tree growing by rivers of water, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

Christ obeyed God our Heavenly Father and gave Himself as a sacrifice for our sins to rescue us from this evil world” (Gal. 1:4).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and I am delivered from evils of this world, for it is the Will of God, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

“…no terrible disasters will strike you or your home. God will command HIS angels to protect you wherever you go” (Psa. 91:10-11).

“Follow the road to life, and you won’t be bothered by death” (Prov. 12:28).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and no evil will fall upon me or our house. God’s angels protect us, and my pathway is life and there is no death, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

“Obey God’s messages! Don’t fool yourselves by just listening to it” (James 1:22).

“Let your faith be like a shield, and you will be able to stop all flaming arrows of the evil one” (Eph. 6:16).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and my faith will quench every fiery dart that Satan and his forces brings against me, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

“Yet God raised Jesus to life! God’s Spirit now lives in you, and HE will raise you to life by HIS Spirit” (Rom. 8:11).

“I’ll give you the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven, and God in Heaven will allow whatever you allow on earth. But HE won’t allow anything that you don’t allow” (Matt. 16:19).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and I forbid any sickness or disease to come upon my body. Every disease, germ, and virus that touches my body dies instantly. I command every organ and every tissue of my body to function in the perfection to which God created it to function. I forbid any malfunction in my body, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

“Our people defeated Satan because of the Blood of the Lamb, and the Message of God. They were willing to give up their lives” (Rev. 12:11).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and I overcome Satan and his forces by the Blood of the Lamb, and the Word of God, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

“Surrender to God1 Resist the devil, and he will run from you” (James 4:7).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and I am submitted to God, and I resist you Satan and your forces, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

“Our Lord, you are eternal! Your Word will last as long as the heavens” (Psa. 119:89)

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and Lord, You are eternal, and Your Word will last forever, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

God will guide you and you will be comforted. Just continue to be an example of christ to your family and pray for her. If you are called, all the details will be worked out.

I have prayed for you for God to give you guidance and comfort.

I will agree that you are

1) Not to leave your wife (Matthew 19:9, 1 Corinthians 7:10-12)

2) Not to get involved in church leadership yet (1 Timothy 3:1-12)

You have responsibilities to your family first and foremost right now. You also need to grow in the Lord. Elders need to have the wisdom to help guys like you in situations like this. I would suggest posting this in the Men's Forum as there is a good deal of married men there who fear the Lord and can help you with this more in-depth.

Hi Mate,

Well, I guess you got your answers.

Please pray that prayer that I posted for your wife, and pray it off and on. In time you will eventually see changes in your wife.

You have to bless in the heavenlies. You are the HEAD of the family. You are the SPIRITUAL LINK to the heavenlies.

Whether your wife submits to you or not, you need to get yourself right with our Lord Jesus Christ, like I and every other male Christian has to.

If you read those Scriptures and pray those prayers that I posted in an earlier posting, continually, until you begin to feel comfort and peace within your heart then you will know that things are beginning to happen.

We are spiritual beings, and we have authority to do spiritual things. Take your authority and use it accordingly to what you are able to take.

Remember that Satan knows you well. And if you submit to our Lord Jesus Christ then he will flee. But sadly, he is roaming around your family like a roaring lion and is devouring anything good that you can do.

Take charge, and STEP UP into the breech of HEADSHIP, and STEP OUT.

Love in Christ
