f.lux: software to make your life better is a brilliant free aid in relieving computer eyestrain. It does it by mimicking nature. As the sun goes down, red hues are emphasized. So f.lux watches the computer clock, and at a certain time begins to tint the monitor in warm tones. The effect is very pleasant, and provides a lower-contrast screen, to the applause of weary eyes. It's a subtle, partial solution for sure, but I've been using it for half a week now, and really like it.
