  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

heheh. I must admit that I'm obsessed with keeping the back neat. I've gone so far as to un-do several rows in order to remove a knot:rolleyes:. The best way to keep it neat is to keep checking the back every row or so. Anytime something feels the lightest bit different or "funny" look at the back. Also, let the thread dangle freely once in a while to let it unravel itself.

I make ornaments all the time, so they are double sided and I have to be careful of what the back looks like. The hard platic sheets rather than cloth make it a little easier to keep the back neat because they are rigid and not flimsy like cloth. If you use words, however you might need to put it in a frame or some sort of background, unless you read backwards :p Cloth is very hard to keep the back neat, I guess just plain old practice is all you can do.

I make both tree and wall ornaments. I make up most of my patterns just by drawing on graph paper, but a few that I use are from the weekenders series, they are cute little christmas stockings that are mini sized. They usually come out around Christmas time in any craft store or cross stitch catalogue.

I just finished doing some cross stich pieces for my inlaws and my mom and dad. I gave them as x-mas presents. This was my first time at it, and i got in way over my head. I didn't think that 17 inches was very big, boy was i wrong. It took me all year to do them both. But I loved it, now I don't know what to do with my free time. It is very relaxing, i do mine at night when the kiddos are in bed.

Cool! Other cross stitchers! I love stitching, and I am making some of my gifts this year, too. :)

Does anyone know where I can find a cross stitch of either of these two hymns: Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing or Be Thou My Vision.

Thanks! :)

Hi Elanor!

My name is Darlene. I "accidentally" stumbled across your request for hymns, while doing a search on Google.

Are you asking for patterns of these hymns to stitch yourself? Do you have them yet? If not, I may be able to help. Do you want all the verses or only particular ones? Do you want just the lyrics, or the staff and music as well?

I'll wait for your response to continue this further.

ive never done that from knitting patterns but i have taken pictures off the web zoomed in and looked at it on 6+ so the grid would be on doubled each space so that the image would be bigger in some cases. and copied them onto graph paper. it turned out pretty good. of course i had to put my own colors and color codes to it but it was challengeing.

I have a huge cross-stitch project I've been working on for years! Like 8 years. I know I will finish it someday...

Something simple that you don't see anymore is cross-stitched pillow slips. Or napkins, dishtowels, etc. I think my great-aunts used to make them years ago. We still have a few of them. I love them. I would love to get something like that for Christmas. :)

Has anyone ever made any cross stitch Christmas Decorations? What have you done?
Yes I have. I get my patterns from cross-stich books and magazines that I have collected over the years. If you want I can try to scan a few for you with all the directions, patterns etc... if they are not too big or complicated. Otherwise, I would have to make bigger copies and send them via snail mail. I am willing to share. ;) Just let me know what you need.
