  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I love that magazine! Unfortunately, it is so expensive in the US! :sigh: It is seriously over $100US for 13 issues! I can't wait to move back to Europe where it is much more affordable. I do have a friend in Italy who sent me the Cattitudes calendar, I love those the most :)

I have a wonderful program called 'Cross Stitcher - Card & Pattern Maker'. It is an English program that I got a few years ago for Mother's Day. Here is the updated version

http://www.focusmm.co.uk/store/productpages/productinfo/ess292.html

Mine is Revision 2.0 from 2000. This is a wonderful program. It has a library of pattern and alphabets included, and the ability to scan photos, drawings etc into it and then it will make a pattern of it at the size you require, and you specify what brand of cotton you will be using. You can then print out the pattern in either symbols, colours or both, making it as large as you require to read it properly. When you print out the colour/codes list, you can also get a run down for each colour - no of stitches, Number code for the brand specified, no of metres of thread required, no of skeins required. Fantastic program, highly recommend it!!

I also have a couple of years' worth of Cross Stitcher and Crazy for Cross Stitch magazines and would be willing to copy and send patterns to anyone. I've been cross-stitching since the early 80's and I'm still not very good at it! But I find it very relaxing and a good way to keep from eating in the evenings. I sometimes listen to bible studies while stitching.

I'm happy to have found this thread.

Christian cross-stitchers! I too am glad to have found this thread  I have so many UFO`s lying around the house, including a big dolphin design I am meant to be doing for my daughter, which I haven`t stitched on in weeks, and which is sitting in the corner making me feel guilty. Just as well I have a very patient daughter!

I enjoy cross-stitching also. They are a lot of free patterns out there. I used the search engine and I got several websites.

I enjoy doing lighthouses the best. I don't get time to stitch much. (I homeschool my kids)

I also have quite a few unfinished object around. I have found with those I work on one for about a week, then switch to another. It seems to help with burnout.

I started a project for my daughter for Christmas, it's mostly just lettering, but after I struggled to put the dratted thing in a scrolling frame, and started stitching, I realized I'd been stitching in the wrong direction! Had to pull out everything I'd worked on and start over. And it's a kit, so I'm sure I'll run out of thread!

I'm not very good at this stuff---I just like doing it!
