  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

the simplest way I can find to explain it is I believe in God but I hate the Christian label :p and I don't share a lot of the same rituals/beliefs of many "traditional Christians."

Any "for instances" on those rituals/beliefs?

For instance: going to church every Sunday. Listening to only Christian music. Not watching rated R movies because they're bad. Not drinking alcohol because it's wrong. Not celebrating Halloween because it's evil. Not getting tattoos because they're bad. And so on and so forth. (which was how I was raised.) I don't think any of that is necessary.

Well, technically the Sabbath is on Saturday. lol. :p I don't think going to church on Sunday is required for salvation...but I do believe it is a good thing to do, since the Bible says so.

There's nothing in the Bible that says to only listen to Christian music. Some of my favorite music is not Christian. I don't think there's anything wrong with choosing to only listen to Christian music, but nor do I think someone is wrong for not listening to only Christian music.

That being said, Skillet is AWESOME. And Christian. Haha.

The Passion of the Christ was rated R. ;) Yeah, I'm with ya on this one too. I mean, come on! The Terminator Series just totally rocks!

Jesus drank alcohol. The Bible doesn't say "drinking" is bad. It says to refrain from drunkenness. Imo, as long as we don't get wasted, drinking alcohol in moderation is fine.

That being said, I am not a fan of drinking underage. At all.

This one is difficult for me, honestly. Don't have a response, or even an opinion on it really. lol.

I would totally get a tattoo if I wasn't so afraid of pain. lol. But alas, I am not a ninja. I am a wuss.

For some people it is necessary. For others, maybe not. I think it depends on personal conviction really. :)

BTW, nice to see ya in the forum!

Mkay, I can handle all that. I was raised much the same way, and I wouldn't say that those beliefs are necessarily bad. However, I agree with you that they're not necessarily necessary either.

I mean, I only go to church every once in a while. I prefer a lot of Christian artists but certainly don't exclude many mainstream artists. I don't like cussing or nudity in movies and try to avoid it, but I don't believe watching them is sinful either. Nothing wrong with consuming alcohol responsibly, although my family's history of alcoholism seems to suggest it would be unwise for me. Most churches celebrate Halloween under the guise of a "Fall Festival." I'm not a big fan of tattoos, but I certainly don't believe it's a sin to get one.

Also, I feel like this dude is getting the workout of his life as I'm thinking up this post:
