My (pseudo) name is Chessie.
I'm not really Christian, and for all of the explanation I could give, it's very easy to sum it up into one word.
Agnostic am I.

Agnostic, in simplest terms, means that I'm not completely willing to believe or disbelieve in God.
I'm open to either side of the spectrum, really.

I go to church weekly, sometimes twice weekly.
I used to run/be in the choir.
I used to help with the service, and I still do sometimes.
I've read the bible, I know the creed, I used to teach kids their prayers, and teach them all about God.
But for all of this, I still can't completely believe.

I'll probably just lurk for a while, read threads and such.
But I'm really open to learning anything you guys can offer me, and I look forward to talking to you all.

I guess I should say, in self preservation, I'd rather be hated for what I am, than loved for what I'm not.
It's why you got such honesty about my faith.
So please, hate me if you will, love me if you can.

Cardinal Newman:crossrc::cool::crossrc:

As a Catholic christian, my Church allows the option of interpreting Scripture either literally or symbolically, or both at the same time. The Catholic Church has always in its 2,000 years of history, considered itself to be the Church of reason. So, theistic (not atheistic) evolution is compatible with our faith.
