  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I joined this community because I had a longing to connect with other people who are also spiritual. I come from a country that is largely secularized and I struggle to find individuals who would share my worldview.

I wouldn't say I am necessarily a Christian although I belong to the Lutheran church. I am in my essence a humanist. Some recent events have piqued my interest in Christianity in particular however, the main one being a very vivid dream of mine. I had a dream I was in my bed when a bright light shines over my bed and I can feel how something lays down on the bed next to me. What strikes me as odd is that I knew in the dream that whatever laid down next to me was the Holy Spirit. What's strange about this dream is the distinct connection to Christianity, particularly considering I don't usually consider myself very religious. I was wondering if anyone has an interpretation of this dream? Maybe someone else has had similar dreams?

Looking forward to connecting with you!

Hi Glad you are here and interested in learning more.

What a wonderful dream.

Not all dreams are from God but He still gives them today. "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:" Acts 2:17

Encourage you not to be concerned about the "old men."

Some others are better at interpretation. Hopefully, they'll see this and respond.

Welcome. The role of the Holy Spirit is fundamentally to lead us to Jesus. Light is truth. The truth is that we are all sinners, on the broad path to destruction, with no hope except to turn to Jesus to be saved. Someone may well be praying for you that you see the truth.

When I was 16, I realised that God was real. I found that oddly comforting. My attitude all my life had been if God left me alone, I'd not bother Him. A few years later, I was born again. God had been leading me all my life and I was completely unaware of it. God is leading you too. I'd advise you not to refuse. We may not have as much time as we imagine. This article will help:

Hi also, and welcome to CF.
Tturt asked me to pop in, and to help out if I could, with that dream.
It is an interesting dream, but I don't think that was the Holy Spirit, because He doesn't behave that way.
The Holy Spirit doesn't have a corporal body, He is Spirit, and thus is weightless, and He would not behave in the manner that you describe.
Secondly, He doesn't have a touchable body, so he wouldn't take up physical space in a bed.
What I think happened was that your feelings and your imagination got together and tricked you into believing something that wasn't from God, in an effort to lead you away from God.
What you probably felt was a disembodied spirit, sent by satan to lead you away from God.
If I were in your shoes, I would be sure to say a prayer before you get into bed, and ask God to send an angel to stand as a protecter over you as you sleep.

Also, I don't think it's a good idea for you to be so vulnerable and unprotected in the night.
So if you have any Christian friends, seek them out and ask them to pray for your protection at night.
Best wishes to you.

Thanks pdudgeon for responding. Do agree that It is an interesting dream and to asks Christians friends to pray for you.

Think the bottom line is beyond there being good (and that's not a bad thing), God wants a relationship with you.

Praying for you.

Hello and welcome. The only way we truly rest is with and in His Spirit. May His light shine on my friend.
Prayers
