  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I registered last week and finally got around to logging on. I am 47 but just a few weeks back I decided to start attending Church again since I tapered off when I went into the Service at 18.

I was never so fortunate. I was a Naval Instructor. I basically taught from books. I taught topics ranging from corrosion control to carrier ops. I did do a stint on the USS Forrestal. But most of my years was as an enlisted instructor. I picked the F-14 as my username and avatar because she happens to be my favorite jet.

I just did one hitch from 1989 to 1993, was an AEAN (PNA'd AE3) with VF-302 Fighting Stallions at Fightertown USA, San Diego, So Cal.
Had a few experiences that back up my faith in God keeping me around, but for the most part it was a fun time.

I did three hitches. The first was as a weekend warrior so that doesn't really amount to much, but that tour was rather brief. I went on active duty as a TAR to work with a reserve center up at NAS Whidbey Island. They first farmed me out to VA-128. That is when I got to go to the Forrestal. Then the rotated me to VP-69 where they was more of a need. My last tour was with a reserve center in Denver where I was a full Navy Instructor. I did attend a couple of Instructor schools. One of them was at Miramar.
