This is the first time I have posted a video and especially a YouTube video, but this is much better than I could do:

I have heard nothing but good things about his book "The fire that consumes".
I have recommended the book, and even sent it to several people, since it does a better job of explaining what the Bible teaches about Hell, rather than what society and religion portray it as. And people are more inclined to believe it when it comes from an author than if I am teaching it.
I have never read it ... but I did find a copy of it in storage ...which is where I have several other research books that are now online.

Many misguided folks claim that the Christian concept of "Hell" was somehow associated with Dante's 14th century writing “Inferno,” or some later writing. But according to these three Jewish sources, the Jewish Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia Judaica, Talmud at least 16 centuries before Dante even scribbled one line, among the יהודים /Yehudim/ιουδαιων/Youdaion/Jews in Israel, before and during the time of Jesus, there was a significant belief in a place of everlasting torment of the wicked and they called it both sheol and gehinnom. Sheol and gehinnom are written Hades and Gehenna, respectively, in both the 225 BC LXX and the NT.
Islam began about 620AD, Islam also has a fiery place of punishment which they called Gahannam... apparently copied from Judaism..
As can be seen by the citations in this post The Jews later equated both Sheol/Hades, and Ge Hinnom/Gehenna, with “Hell.”
…..Disclaimer: There were different factions within Judaism; Sadducees, Pharisees, Essenes etc. and different beliefs about resurrection, hell etc. These differing beliefs do not refute anything in this post.

Why would Jesus teach “eternal punishment,” etc. to Jews who believed, e.g.

If the lake of fire vs. 14 is actually death, i.e. cessation of life how, do the devil, the beast and the false prophet, who is very likely a person, not die but are tormented day and night for ever and ever vs. 10?
Vs. 14 death is the cessation of life it has no life thus it cannot die either a first or second death and it can't literally be thrown anywhere. Hell is either the grave or a fiery place of punishment it has no life of its own thus cannot die a first or second death. But there is a scriptural answer.

Revelation 6:8
(8) And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.​

The angel of death and the demon of hell are living creatures they can be thrown and can die.

Revelation 21:4
(4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Revelation 21:8
(8) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.​

Vs. 4 says no more death. If there is no more death after vs. 4 the eight groups of unrighteous thrown into the LOF vs. 8 do not die.

Revelation 22:11
(11) He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.​

Where are the unjust and filthy?

Revelation 22:15
(15) For without [outside New Jerusalem] are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.​

Last chapter in the Bible no more salvation, no more death outside the New Jerusalem are the unjust, dogs, sorcerers, whoremongers, and murderers, idolaters and liars not burned up in the lake of fire.
