• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I find the concept of Eternal hell is one of the hardest concepts to accept. This is because God is the Ultimate in Compassion, so how can he punish forever for finite sins when his compassion is suppose to overtake his wrath? To be honest, I don't know the answer to that question. But I know God is Wrathful just as he is Merciful and Compassionate. However I cannot understand why there would eternal hell for all those whom reject God's guidance....This is something I don't understand.

Y'know, I've never seen God being describes as "Wrathful" in the Qur'an or Sunnah, to my knowledge. I see some references to "His Wrath" or that He "Yaghdab" (verb meaning becomes angry, or something like that)... but never a word meaning Wrathful.

Me neither, but I've come across that God is severe in punishment

وَاللَّهُ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ

I guess on this subject the verse:

005.098
YUSUFALI: Know ye that Allah is strict in punishment and that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
PICKTHAL: Know that Allah is severe in punishment, but that Allah (also) is Forgiving, Merciful.
SHAKIR: Know that Allah is severe in requiting (evil) and that Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

So Allah is both severe in requiting evil and forgiving merciful.

Askthefamily, you are not supposed to ask questions.

A Muslim's unyielding committment to faith(Islam) is because Allah of Quran makes it Personal. There are dire warnings in every chapter of Quran for disbeleivers.

 1. 73:11 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while.

 1. 73:12 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them),

 1. 73:13 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous.

 1. 72:15 'But those who swerve,- they are (but) fuel for Hell-fire'-

 1. 72:16 (And Allah's Message is): "If they had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance.

 1. 7:40 To those who reject Our signs and treat them with arrogance, no opening will there be of the gates of heaven, nor will they enter the garden, until the camel can pass through the eye of the needle: Such is Our reward for those in sin.

 1. 7:41 For them there is Hell, as a couch (below) and folds and folds of covering above: such is Our requital of those who do wrong.

Hell in islam is eternal:

 1. 35:36 But those who reject (Allah) - for them will be the Fire of Hell: No term shall be determined for them, so they should die, nor shall its Penalty be lightened for them. Thus do We reward every ungrateful one!
 2. 35:37 Therein will they cry aloud (for assistance): "Our Lord! Bring us out: we shall work righteousness, not the (deeds) we used to do!" - "Did We not give you long enough life so that he that would should receive admonition? and (moreover) the warner came to you. So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds): for the wrong-doers there is no helper."
There are Innumerable verses in Quran that makes It clear it is Allah's Personal Wrath on Unbeleivers that is at work.
