  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"I have no idea who Che Guevara was but I have a poster of him on my wall"...etc
LOL, once I was in my friend's dorm room, and this girl, who is definitely not the "sharpest tool in the shed" came in, saw a Che poster, and asked "Why do you have a picture of Saddam Hussein on your wall??" LOL. She's the type of person you'll see on Jay Leno, out in the street asking questions, people who recognize Britney Spears over Dick Cheney.

Maybe we could start another thread on this in an appropriate forum or continue this in PMs.

Project 86, Earth Crisis, Zao, Extol, No Innocent Victim, Fear Factory, Machine Head - all good stuff.

BTW, how is making a random list of "cool bands that you like" staying with the topic?

From what you're saying, Satanism is no different than Buddism, which strives for personal enlightenment and doesn't depend on external supernatural influences. Correct?
I dont think that was implied. Their origins are completely different. Modern satanism is just a mockery/opposite of Christianity. Its not original. Buddhism is.

Oh, I understand that. My comment was in response to a post by twistedsketch. I was using the juxtaposition of Thelema and Buddism to clarify my argument that Crowley wasn't a Satanist:

Něco hrubého said:
The whole point of the philosophy (Crowley's Thelema) is the inherent divinity of every human.
twistedsketch's response to me:

Which isn't too far from the type of Satanism I learned about...
Where I was going with this:
If you forget about Crowley's ironic 666 ephemera for a minute...Thelema's chief aim was personal enlightenment. The same can be said about Buddism. So if Thelema is Satanic based on this principle (the inherent divinity of every human), Buddism would also have to be considered Satanic. That's all.

Thanks for your comments...I don't want you to get the wrong idea...Does this clarify my statements any?

Sort of although I'm more confused with all the new terminology :). But the essence of your point, yes I got that one :).

Whats your name mean? What language is it. It looks Slavic.

Uh, oh...I didn't think anyone would ask me that...

It's an excerpt from some "tactile poetry" written by Jan Svankmajer...known for his surreal, animated, short-length films.

It's in Czech and sort of translates to, "something coarse, cracked."

It really doesn't mean anything. I don't know why I chose it for my name...It's too long and pointlessly obscure. I tried to change it initially. The forums don't allow that, though.

Well, the OP wanted some good heavy bands listed and if the music in and of itself was evil.

Yeah it's clear. I wouldn't label Bhuddism Satanic, but it is just as likely to get people into Hell so it doesn't really matter from the Christian perspective. But since they are all lies that came from the devil in the first place, you could call just about every other religeon Satanic, except for Judaism, which was started by God. But the belief that the Messiah hasn't come yet is one of the devil's lies. So is everything the "angel" told Mohammed, and Joseph Smith, and everybody else who founded the other religeons. So in a way Bhuddism could be considered Satanic, but I don't really label it that way.

But yes, Bhuddism and New-Ageism in America is all derived from Hinduism, so that's where we do see a lot of similarities, such as reality being a subjective illusion, reincarnation, the self being a part of the closest thing they have to God, etc.

My friend Greg (well we can of aren't as close anymore :() but anyways he's the same age as me (20) and all he listens to is more harder music/ rock type stuff since his Dad Greg Sr. got him started on the whole hard rock craze when he was little since also his Dad listened to hard rock all the time when he was growing up. and Greg listens to all sorts of Bands from AC/DC to Posion to MegaDeath to Metallica to Guns and Roses etc.... he loves his hard type music so much thats all his buys is cd's of harder type music (like with the bands i listed above). he'll listen to some newer bands out today and like a few songs by them but he wouldn't ever buy any cds by any New Bands out today. he loves his big haired bands from the 80's and 90's era. which i think is cool though!

anyways well i just wanted to bore you all with that

ok I dont know anything about Black Sabbath but Led Zepplin is not heavy metal it is classic rock and second I dont think they worship the devil
I think I should clarify this:

Led Zeppelin is heavy metal. Despite how much people insist they aren't, they are.

This is the reason:

Heavy Metal's original incarnation was a very blues-influenced rock style that came about in the early 70s. The three main albums that are often recalled as the definitive original heavy metal albums are Black Sabbath's "Paranoid", Led Zeppelin's fourth album, and Deep Purple's "Machinehead". These recordings were much heavier and much leaner than acid rock, or any of the other various hard rock styles that came about in the following years (which is why they are called simply 'hard rock'; there's no comparing Foreigner to Zep in terms of heaviness).

Now, when most people say 'heavy metal' today, they mean bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Def Leppard, and other similar bands that came about in the late 70s/early 80s, and influenced scores of newer metal bands, from hair metal to death metal. This new surge of artists took all blues influences out of their music in reaction to the defining heavy metal bands becoming too bluesy and soft, and is often called the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.

So yes, Zep has been and always will be considered Heavy Metal. But, they are also considered 'classic rock' because they were a rock band, and they are now considered classic. Classic rock isn't a musical genre; it's a radio format.
