He won't stop eating!

These last couple of days, Justin eats and eats and eats. I feed him breakfast, he wnats to graze and eat until lunch. I feed him lunch, he wants to eat all afternoon and then eat dinner. After dinner, he wnats to eat more. I know I'm feeding him enough and I know the stuff I'm feeding him should leave him feeling full (i.e. fiber, protein, whole grain...the good stuff)...but he is eating me out of house and home!

If I tell him he doens't need aynthing to eat right now, he screams and beats his head against the cabinet (no, really...he does). Ack!

Growth spurt coming? My kids tend to eat TONS right before they grow again...

Yeah, my kids go through this every so often. My bet is it's a growth spurt.

Yep, pretty much. Just try to keep to healthy food then it shouldn't be a problem. They generally don't go so far as to get a belly ache.

Maya was for a time eating as much as me. I don't know how it was possible. It stopped now. Of course we only eat at meal and snack times but those are pretty often. Add boiled eggs and/or scrambled eggs to the mix.... very filling and cheap and good for him

I wish I could. He can't eat egg. He typically has a small snack between breakfast and lunch and then a small snack between lunch and dinner....but he is just eating every waking hour right now

Keep an eye on it. And if it continues to becomes overly worrisome definitely talk to the doctor.

There are medical diagnosises that also could be playing into it. But now is not the time to worry about that aspect. I just want you to keep it in mind.

More than likely it is a growth spurt. Give it a few days and if it is continuing or worsening begin documenting for a few days and then call the doctor.

Yep I'm guessing he's going through a growth spurt. There's nothing wrong with feeding him if he's hungry. You can try healthy snacks like whole grain crackers, fruits, cheese (if he can have dairy or soy if that works), maybe even giving him some water will fill his little tummy to help him make it to the next meal.

Me too - agreeing here =- GROWTH SPURT. Nate used to do it all the time.... then would go like a week barely eating... it was like he knew he was full. Now that he's 4 it happens but its less often since his growth has slowed down. That first 2-3 years they GROW all the time. He'll be fine and back to his normal appetite shortly.

Thank GOODNESS....otherwise, I'd be buying groceries at least twice a day! He is running around right now, laughing and eating Peanut Butter Puffins!

My mother was a registered nurse who told me that often you will continue to crave food, even when you have a full tummy, if your body is craving a particular thing. You may not realize what it is your body is missing.

This is one of the many reason people gorge. They crave vitamin C, (or B or whatever), but they fill up on sugar or protein, so they have a full belly, but they still need the missing nutrient, so their brain keeps saying, "You're still hungry."

Mother said that even if what you crave is unhealthy, you'll often eat much less if you satisfy that craving. SO if you crave chocolate, let yourself have a tiny bit, and your body will be satisfied, and then you can eat healthy.
