Has God ever made you a promise?

He made me plenty of promises in the Bible. Beyond that, I dare not speculate. People can "hear God's voice" when it is really their own obsession with something or someone. And when what was "promised" doesn't happen, then people think God led them on and shut them down, when the truth of the matter is God never promised it. I do not deny that God speaks to people, but people are all to eager to put words in God's mouth. I can say this because I've been there and I'm not making that mistake again. I value my relationship with God too much for that.

Hey all,

I didn't know where to post this so I thought this would be a good place.

I'm pretty new to CF and this has probably been asked before, but has God ever made you a personal promise? It's tough to phrase it the right way, but through prayer and studying the bible and going to church, have you ever believed something would happen according to God's will and it has? It doesn't even necessarily have to be through Him blatantly talking to you through prayer.

I'm just curious about this to see examples of God's works like He did in the bible where people were maybe told something and it eventually happened. A good example would be the birth of Issac. It doesn't have to be that extreme though.

Do you guys get what I'm asking?

God has promises in the Bible of Eternal life

Hebrews 6:18 "God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged."

But if you do think he made you a promise, you can know he will be sure to keep it!
