  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump border czar Tom Homan suggests US-born children of illegal migrants could be held in halfway houses

“As far as US children — children, that’s going to be a difficult situation, because we’re not going to detain your US citizen children, which means, you know, they’re going to be put in a halfway house,” Homan told NewsNation Thursday, without elaborating on how the plan would work.

“I’ve said many times that if we arrest the parent and they’ve been ordered removed and have a child with them, then they can be removed together, that’s going to be the parent’s decision, or the child can stay here,” he said.

--

So the US citizens will be either rounded up and removed from the country, or rounded up and put in halfway houses.
As he said in the article you quoted from, it's up to the parents whether they are going to take their children with them or not as they are sent back home. If they choose to abandon their children, we won't be kicking those children out to the street like their parents may be willing to do.

So they're going to be sent to some sort of accommodation in...well, I have no idea where they're going to be sent. Or how they're going to be housed. Or fed. Or have any medical matters seen to. Or jobs arranged. Neither do you. Neither, more importantly, does Trump. He hasn't got the foggiest idea. He's just making it up as he goes.

Which we knew already. That's not unusual. What's astonishing is that you actually believe what he says. That's what I really don't get.

Especially since they're imaginary.
Homan: Over half a million children have been trafficked into this country, and they get turned over to custody of HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement who find sponsors and release them to the sponsors. I talked to several whistleblowers who said they weren’t even fingerprinting the sponsors and on many occasions they are doing improper vetting. We have a whistleblower who has testified in front of Congress now three times that a lot of these children seem to be victims of trafficking.
They’re released to unvetted sponsors, and many children will be released to one sponsor. One whistleblower said there were 11 young girls released to one male, a single male. Maybe it’s all innocent…
Carlson: There’s nothing innocent there. That’s sick.

We went through similar denial on the border disaster, the major media and the Democratic Party machine kept the border disaster very much under wraps until they could not. That happened once Texas starting busing the "imaginary" illegals to various sanctuary locations around the country.

Back to their home country.

That's the responsibility of the parents.

Maybe I shouldn't have asked if you know. I should have asked if you care.
If the parents care about their children's welfare, they wouldn't illegally bring them here and abandon them here.

I think it's because they cared that they left everything they had to try to make a better life. But I didn't ask about the parents. I asked you.

Dragging their children along on a dangerous journey to illegally enter another country is not caring. But even if it was, it's still not caring to abandon them in that country.

Like I said, I was asking if you cared about shipping families into another country with no means of support and no accomodation.

I do - that is why they should not send them unaccompanied to the US

But this thread is not about that -is it?

Let me check......

You have to allow that they believed, rightly or wrongly, that it was more dangerous to stay where they were.

So, I guess the rationale is that we have to let hundreds of millions of self-declared "unsafe" people into our country, and if we suggest not... then we are uncaring. Of course, people want to come here from every 3rd world country. Who wouldn't?

"... according to recent reports, around 1.2 billion people are estimated to be living in conflict-affected areas, which could be considered "unsafe" based on the level of instability and potential danger present in those regions." Google AI Overview

Get ready for the influx. Don't say no! You are uncaring.

Of course we could modify those aspects of our foreign policy which has contributed to making those regions unsafe. Most of those people would rather stay home anyway.

What could be either way? The game plan is to deport up to 20 million people to places unknown, to conditions unknown. There seems to be a distinct lack of empathy being shown to these people.

What is this thread about?
This conversation is about what happens to those who might be deported. A question was asked about it. To someone else. If you weren't interested then you shouldn't have answered it.

There is definitely a distinct lack of empathy, and the fact that it's coming from the "Christian" party of American politics is even more depressing. my favorite part of the current form of Project 2025 is "Unleash American energy....!!" One should add the exclamations since it's being "unleashed" like a pent up dog. This is in line with Trump's big plan to use energy costs to solve American's problems and Make America Comfortable Again. It's the same old song and dance, just to a bad tune. The "make federal bureaucrats more accountable" is ludicrous. Are you telling me the people who work day after day in the system, making sure the machine actually turns, need to listen to politicians? Sure, let's throw institutional wisdom and stability out the window for ideology. Brilliant. Not only have we lost empathy, but we could mess up a pressed-ham sandwich.

First of all, it's not about me. It about what's best for the children if the parents are being deported back to their home country. It is best for the children to be with their parents, not abandoned in a foreign country to be raised by a foreign government.
