This is so sad because I am sure that there were critical patients, including women and children, that needed outside medical help in order to survive.
The list was then vetted by Egypt and the United States, which found that a third of the names on it were of Hamas fighters, the administration official said, adding that the list was rejected and none of the 76 wounded Palestinians who were ultimately evacuated in ambulances out of Gaza were members of the terror group.

Yes, "ultimately." But how many Palestinian children needing critical care died because of the delay? You see, this is Hamas. They value their lives about the lives of children.

Let’s say the answer to your conjecture is “zero”.
That would render the demonizing of Hamas moot.

It was a dishonest act which had a great chance of costing the lives of others. People are taken by ambulance because they have serious or critical health concerns that need medical attention at a better equipped hospital. It is what it is, not like their torture and butchery of babies, but putting their needs above the needs of others. Given their morality, or lack thereof, it should come as no surprise to anyone. What is a surprise is that they have a following that believes virtually anything they say despite them having been caught in lie after lie.

This assumes that Hamas would displace victims with belligerents in the vehicles, this has not been shown.
If they had (say) 100 places for victims but only 76 needing transport then there’d be 24 places otherwise empty.
Yes, it is reprehensible that Hamas would try this, but to assume that the terrorists are pushing children out of their places in the ambulances seems a bit over-the-top.

Given the Hamas stories about Israel attacking so many children and other civilians, why would 24 places be empty?

It was a “for instance” to make a point, we don’t know how many available places there were, nor the number of casualties, so trying to argue over this is silly at best.

My point was that attempting to make Hamas look as bad as possible by suggesting that it displaced wounded children for belligerents goes beyond the data that we have to view.

When Hamas tried to sneak in arms or equipment it of course displaced some of the humanitarian aid. Hamas tortured and killed babies, danced int celebration, and vowed to do it over and over again to teach Israel a lesson. Thus such things are expected.

What's over-the-top about it?

They grabbed 30 children and said "this person will make a good bomb shield".

That why I thought I was not "demonizing" them by suggesting they took someone else's place.

Where was all this concern for Palestinian children when the IDF was making sure they'd need ambulances in the first place?

I don't like Hamas (and I absolutely believe that this is something they would do), but this is kinda burying the lead.

Are you kidding me? They burned babies alive in ovens. They put their military in hospitals. What on earth gives your the slightest idea that all of a sudden they are going to not remove kids to save their hides?

This is unbelievable. Making excuses for terrorists?

Hamas doesn't need us to make them look bad. They do just fine themselves.

But if that didn’t actually happen, isn’t that bearing false witness?
Are you kidding again. Doing that is completely in line with their character. It's precisely something they would do. All the things they have done is evidence that they will stoop to any level.

Oh I get the “oh! Terrorists! BAD!” thing, but what they do do is “bad enough”, we don’t have to make up even worse stuff about them until we have EVIDENCE that it had “happened”!

The terrorists have families too.

Is this what “loving our enemy” looks like?

I dunno. They seem pretty certain.

The terrorists have families too.

Let's hope they live long enough to remember their terroristic kin as martyrs.
