Is there a monthly fee to pay to play guild wars, like all other MMORPG's?

Be blessed †

No monthly fees at all! You buy the game, load up and jump on the servers. IMHO the game does require a heavier system than is listed on the box so beware. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous, though, if you system can handle it.

I've been playing Ultima Online for over 5 years, (including the monthly fee all that time-ugh), and it doesnt compare to the fun found on Guild Wars. It's just straight forward bash 'em-smash 'ems. Sometimes it's just mindless fun to do that. Reminds me of my beloved Diablo II in that respect.

You have the option to pvp or pvm and can have up to 4 characters. Another thing I like is you can pick two fighting styles, a primary and secondary kind...nice touch. When you level up you get points that you can assign to skills associated with these fighting skills so you end up with a very personalized fighter according to your own tastes.

To find a game this beautiful, involved and FREE just blows me away!

Find NPC's, and get yourself to lvl 6 or 7, then talk to the main person in Ascalon that gives you a mission saying "make sure to finish all your business before you are ready to leave", then choose to leave with him, and you'll be in the "real" game. Let me know when you get to that point. My in-game name is "Grabthars Hammer".

My name is Laura Garvin on the thing so if anyone like really knows what they are doing, think they could assist me? Because I really...don't...know...what...I'm...doing. :D

I know it'll take a bit, but play for a little while, and then read the manual. It's got a nice little backstory about some of the main NPC's you'll start around, as well as the setup of the land. Good stuff! Instant Message me in-game, and I can help you a bit.

 Ugh, so I'm not even in the real game yet?! Haha Well I've got 4 more levels to go (lvl 7):prayer:

And mongoose, I'm not sure, I hope that isn't true, I mean they are making a LOT of money off of this game because you don't have to pay.

I heard from one of my Guild Wars fan friends that even though there is no monthly fee, you'll have to pay for each individual patch in order to get access to their content. Is this true?
If that were true we'd be paying for all the updates here. http://www.guildwars.com/news/gameupdates.html

No, you only pay for expansions. Just like the expansions you have to pay for in all those other games, in ADDITION to the monthly fees.
