  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I can't upgrade to anything faster than 56k because I live in the stix, yeah that technology isn't comming my way anytime soon. (althought the surrounding towns and communitys have DSL....BAH!)

ok here's the story...I hate my guild because because they never get on, but I don't want to leave because my cousin invited me into it. He is away in China right now and I want to talk to him and see if we could go into TOJ. We could merge our guilds or me and my cousin could join. But I can't talk to him about it yet until he gets back...which is almost the end of the summer. I don't know how much i'll be able to get on during the school year. So you see my delimma. I really want to join you guys but I want my cousin to come with me. Any helpful advice?

Just join our guild and tell your cousin that you'll join back up with him if he is mad, and that he's more than welcome to join our guild if he wants. He can't be too mad if you'll come back to his guild if he wants you to. You're just playing with a bunch of guys that play more than the people in your current guild. What's wrong with that? We're laid back guys as you've kind of seen.

So, what lvl do I need to be before I finish the main quest in the pre-Searing? I'm lvl 6 now with Zolan and am Ele/Mo.

I should probably do some research into how to spec him but for right now, I'm concentrating on Fire/Smite with Energy/Healing drawing a close 3rd/4th. I'm figuring as of now that I'll be a nuker who can heal in a pinch but that might change as I learn more of the game. I might make a straight monk just for healing. I guess I'm still up in the air on the choice for a main. lol

The good thing is you can redistribute your attribute points to try another style of play to see if it suits you. So try them out and see which one you like best. With my N/E, I am exclusively N, so I my attribute points are between 3 Necromancer attributes and are 13, 12, 10 at the moment. Once I finish a quest, it'll be 14, 12, 9. You can get beyond a skill level of 12 with runes.

If you try to divide it between your primary and secondary class and be VERY effective in both, you'll pretty much have to pick 3 attributes at the most between the two IMO. You can't be a jack of all trades, just pick a style of play and pour your attributes points into it so you're REALLY powerful at that style of play and you'll PWN. :D

Oh yeah and I was level 8 the first time through and level 7 the 2nd time through before going to post-searing.

I'd say level 6 or 7 would be the best to start out post-searing. There's a bunch to do before you get there anyway, so no rush to get to post just to do it. Get yourself leveled up decently, and then head in. And I agree with Quantum about focusing on one side and using the other class as just extra skills. I am a Warrior/Elementalist (fire), and I put a bunch into my strength and axe skills, and then put in extra into my fire spells, so I can have just enough in that to cause significant damage if I go on a mission alone. It's a nice complementary role. And with my axe and strength skills so high, I can usually own if I solo a mission.

Issues while playing Guild Wars

First of all, here are my specs:

Athlon 2500+ Barton
Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo
1GB Ram
ATI 9500 Pro vid card
Two 30GB 7200 RPM HD's

When I play Guild Wars, it runs fine most of the time, but at spurts it just gets super choppy...to the point where I sit there for 1 or 1 1/2 seconds to let it catch up. I have friends whose systems aren't as good as mine, except for a better processor, and they never have issues. I've turned the settings all the way down to minimum everything and it still has no effect. One of my friends has a better proc, only half the memory, bigger hard drive (and 7200rpm), but his proc is a 2.5ghz Intel. What could be my problem? Would it be the proc? I would have thought it would have been the vid card, but with nothign changing when I turn everything down, I dont' think it is. Any help?

I wonder if it could be another program causing the problem like maybe a virus scanner or something. Your system is way better than mine and I run it with everything on medium at 1024x768 and only usually hit lag in towns but there is the occasional spike in an instance.

1GHz Athlon T-Bird
544MB SDRAM (PC100)
Radeon 9000 (64MB)
VT/133 mobo

With those specs and turning down all settings, it should run perfectly smooth. It should run smoothly probably with medium settings or slightly higher. Not sure why it's giving you a hard time, but maybe do a Disk Clean-Up and Defrag? Are there lots of background programs running as well? Close those out while playing should help.

I'm running a P4 2.6GHz, 512MB RAM, ATI 9700 Pro with 2 80GB HDD. I play the game at high-medium settings and its very smooth.

I just tried the last mission of the game 3 times and we all died 3 times. This was with 2 different groups. People started complaining, blaming each other, cursing each other, etc. Such immaturity that I hope they are all young teenagers and not people my age or older. It might be a while before I find a good group to finish the game, sigh...
