yes, it is a little vague, and that's a good answer. (we do suffer physical pain for His sake).

more specific, just as in the previous q and a , God honors His Word even above His Name,

I was thinking more along those lines - "if a man makes a promise, he keeps it even if it causes him loss" ... i.e. a righteous man keeps his word no matter what, if he is able to even at great cost to himself (makes a wise man not give his word too hastily, unless he is sure of all the potential consequences)

Yes, I had many verses going through my mind and just couldn't put my finger on it. But I don't have much time today.

No worries. It took me a little while to find it again - ( it's not worded like I remembered)....
here it is
Psalm 15:1-4King James Version (KJV)

15 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

Revelations 12:10-11?

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Who is this talking about? The martyrs? (it doesn't say "who" it is)

And your 2nd question....i dunno...

that's the verses , yes. overcomers by the word of their testimony and by the blood of the Lamb.

the Expanded Translation shows more specifically 'who', without contradiction or stretching - i.e. simply who the context/ language refers to ::>>

Revelation 12:10-11Expanded Bible (EXB)

10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying:
“The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God
and the ·authority [power] of his ·Christ [Messiah; Anointed One] have now come [Dan. 7:14].

[L For] The accuser [C the name Satan means “Accuser” in Hebrew; Job 1:6–12; 2:1–6; Zech. 3:1–2] of our brothers and sisters,
who accused them day and night before our God,
has been ·thrown [cast; hurled] down.
11 And our brothers and sisters ·defeated [conquered] him
by the blood of the ·Lamb’s death [L Lamb; C by means of Christ’s sacrificial death]
and by the ·message they preached [L word of their witness/testimony].
[L And] They did not love their lives so much
that they ·were afraid of [avoided] death.

I read the KJV Bible. I prefer to answer questions that are clearly covered in it. I prefer not to "surmise" or "fill in the blanks."

I would've never gotten that question or part two of it. I prefer to respond to questions that are clear and forthright, so that this thread stays fun and edifying, while being excited about delving in the Bible, or reinforcing what i'm learning in my studies.

Just a thought: If i am not familiar with any semblance or detail of the question asked, and the question seems so remote, how would i even begin to find the answer?

It kinda reminds me of trying to guess the number of jelly beans in a huge glass container. :swoon:

Thank you kindly.

(i just miss playing the game) :o

if you're able to search on biblegateway.com, which has many different translations readily available and searchable,

that is an often 'quick' and 'easy' way to find more full meanings of the Scripture than the KJV reveals.

i tried to stick to KJV for you as you prefer it, but sometimes what comes to mind/ inspired even, is in another translation (and not opposed to KJV, but revealing a fuller, and sometimes a more accurate meaning).

particularly on this forum, (not on this thread, btw), it has been apparent that KJV is not conveying to the readers of it the full meaning of different passages. i'm not saying trust one or the other over the others, but prayerfully reading different ones when seeking the truth has been rewarding, Yhvh willing.

i'll continue to try to stick to KJV here, as it is a fine request on this thread.... but there may be some exceptions as there have been.

This is not an intensive Bible study or comparison of versions. It's a game. I prefer it to be kept simple with non cumbersome, and clear questions that would be at least answer-a-ble.

Thank you kindly.

the centurian.-Luke 7:2-7

2And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. 3And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. 4And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: 5For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. 6Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

Actually, this was WISDOM saying that. She was with God in the beginning. Heard it preached as words from the LORD, though, many times. Not wrong to think of it that way.

Proverbs 1:20-31 (Proverbs 8:12-33)

Where does it tell us how to deliver our children from Hell?

^ (yes, fer the verses, but i believe it's God saying it because it says that they will call on Him and He will not answer them.....we don't call on wisdom, we call on God....)

Proverbs 23:14
Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

Who did God describe as someone who was righteous and feared Him, and avoided evil?
