Hi Kimmy, I finally got over here.Phoebe said:How often does eveyone else take communion? My church has dropped back to the first and third Sundays each month. There were enough people that thought if we had communion every week, it would lose its specialness.

I'll post more and I have some responses to other posts, too, but I have to get to class (going to a Lutheran college for elementary education).

I just wanted to say, we had a Church council meeting, and I got the ball rolling to reinstate communion every service! I hope this can encourage you to pursue it in your church!Flipper said:Hi Kimmy, I finally got over here.We have communion on the first and third Sundays as well, but being a former Catholic, I would rather take it every week. However, we have confession every week as well. I have no idea what LCMS doctrine is on this, but I guess I could look it up.
What I like about my church, and we have discussed this before, is that mine is one of the only LCMS churches that offers open communion. If you are a Christian, you can take communion, no matter what denomination you are. That's how it should be in my opinion - communion should not have denominational boundaries.
The Lutheran Rosary is very, very interesting. Thank you for sharing that.
We just went to twice a month two years ago. We'll see what happens with our new pastor. At one time, we had two services on Sunday, so communion would alternate betwwn the 8 and 10:30 services. Then we had people complaining that there wasn't enough fellowship with the two services, so we went to one. This is when communion was every Sunday at the 9 am service. (sometimes a flakey congregation) Interim pastor enters, and it's changed to every other. (majority of congregation wanted it that way?)JVAC said:I just wanted to say, we had a Church council meeting, and I got the ball rolling to reinstate communion every service! That's cool! I go to a very large church (3000 members) and it's had 2 communion services a month for years longer than I've been a member. I might mention it at a voter's meeting sometime, tho. You never know.JVAC said:I just wanted to say, we had a Church council meeting, and I got the ball rolling to reinstate communion every service!
