What about Washington, DC? Puerto Rico? Virgin Islands? American Samoa?
The citizens there have been waiting for a long time to have the benefits of statehood.
If Trump wants to acquire a 51st state, he has an ample list to choose from.

You forget Cuba is also a Communist country in alliance with Russia. And American Samoa, Guam, etc. were so strategic during WWII that the planes carrying the first atomic bombs were flown from there (morally compromised as I believe that decision to have been.)
We have Alaska--closer to both China and Russia--already. The circumference of the globe is not that great that far north.

Nevertheless, citizens in US territories have been paying taxes for years but don't have a full voice in our government and are often treated like second-class citizens. America's response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico was disgraceful, one of the many failures of the first Trump administration.

I’m still trying to find out where President Trump said anything about making Greenland a 51st and since the OP offers no proof of it.

If Washington DC, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and American Samoa were to become states, it would add an additional 30-40 Electoral College for the Democrats. Therefore, no Republican would support granting these regions statehood.

Perhaps these territories would vote Republican if they didn't remember the disrespectful paper towel throwing incident, followed by Interior Sec'y Ryan Zinke hiring two small businesses--far too small to do the job--his son had worked for to fix Puerto Rico. Somehow or other they absconded with many millions and much work undone.

Let them become states, and then seek their votes--not through demagoguery but through listening and responding to their needs.
