I don't know much about pop music in the 80's & 90's but I really liked Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman singing "Time to Say Goodbye" released in 1996. According to Wikipedia, it is number 20 on the best selling singles of all time list. Interesting that 2 of the top 3 on that list are by Bing Crosby!

El DeBarge is such a versatile artist crossing all genres. Here is one of his from 1991 with the Jazz group Fourplay with Bob James. This song is right up there with the Temptations Lady Soul for me.
