They need to just throw out a few categories. "Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album" is a joke, as well as obscure categories such as Hawaiian music. I'm all for recognizing people who deserve it and don't get the media recognition that mainstream artists get, but sometimes it goes to the other extreme. Judges who don't understand a smaller genre shouldn't be handing out an undeserved award to a band who produces a mediocre (at best) album, when an identical award is being competed for by a group of several artists producing fantastic work in a crowded genre.

I guess I'm just saying that iI lost all respect for the Grammy's when Jars of Clay's If I Left the Zoo (what I viewed as the nail in the coffin for what used to be my favorite band) won an award comparable to that given to such great artists as U2, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, Johnny Cash, etc.

I like the drawings my nieces and nephews have done, but that doesn't mean I'm trying to get them put in the Lourve next to the Mona Lisa.

Ok, rant over. I'm glad to see Green Day getting so much recognition. I always love it when established artists come out with a really great album that impresses even their biggest fans, and "American Idiot" was just fantastic, I thought.

You know what? 99% of those artists dont deserve a Grammy.
I tried to compile my list but I just scrapped it, when I was picking songs just because I had to, not because any of them deserved to win.

Come talk to me when there is something a little better.

At the risk of ticking off U2 fans, Vertigo is a great album. I really like it... is it Grammy material when compared to Joshua Tree? ATYCLB? Not a chance.

Modest Mouse, although I believe that the albums by Wilco and Franz Ferdinand are as good as the nominees for album of the year.

The grammy's always stink and was expecting anybody to think otherwise really. It makes it seem less cool when a deserving musician gets a grammy next to a totally undeserving one.
Yeah....Do you remember when Santana got like 9 for "Supernatural?" I mean, it was a good album, but other people should get a chance. :)

Meh, the only award I'm remotely interested in is the Best Alternative Music album; I'd like to see Franz Ferdinand or Bjork there, although I like all of them.

I'm not a big fan of most of the nominees, though, although I would say that Green Day's album is fairly good, actually.
