  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok, I'm gonna try to get through this as good as I can with my sleep deprivation.

My contractions started Fri Aug. 15th when she was due. We started timing them and called the office & they said to let the contractions become more consistant. So we did just that through Sunday evening. I was very exhausted from laboring contractions all weekend we called the mid-wife and she said to go to the hospital to get checked. We went & they gave us the 2 options be admitted or go home & wait it out a little while longer til the contractions were 3- 5 minutes consistant. The mid-wife wanted me to stay in hte hospital but I thought I would be more comfy at home. So Monday came & I was in dire dire pain from the contrations being stronger & closer that we went ahead & went back to the hospital that evening and was admitted after being checked. I was given a epidural and stadol to help me sleep because by this time I was extremely extremely exhausted. The next day they induced me and gave me pitocin and that lasted pretty much all day til that night. We tried to put me in a position in hte bed to get my cervix to dilate more & my goodness I was wanting to push SOO bad. And was having major major contactions and trying my hardest not to push. Finally the other mid-wife came in and checked me after 3 nurses had checked me (they thought I was progressing) and made the call on hte C-section due to seeing meconium and my cervix not dilating and somehting with D-cells the baby was stressed. The c-section was absolutley crazy. I could fell them tugging on me and I was screaming in my head but they all said I was grunting. Not a good feeling whatsoever. I remember hearing her cry once & that was it & later found out hse had to go to NICU due to breathing and thank the good Lord she was only there for a little while & didnt ahve to be admitted. She is perfectly healthy & I'm so grateful the Lord has belssed us.

She is awake I gotta run!!

I'm so glad she's here and that you are both safe and at home. Take as much time to recoup as you can and remember, the house cleaning will still be there tomorrow, don't worry about it today.

I found that I kind of got into a rhythm at 3 weeks. One of my girlfriends said that 6 weeks seems to be golden as far as being adjusted. Big hugs and hope you can rest some.

Thank you all!! We are doing pretty good. She is having major issues at night fighting sleep & a little gassy. So I'm up ALL night long. Not sure yet if it's colic or what. Going to get her some gas drops today & hopefully that will help. I'm trying to rest during the day as much as I can. She had to be put on formula in hte hospital due to low blood sugar & I just decided to keep her on it but thinking that I may pump some & mix it in her milk. Or even try to get her to latch on I didn't wanna confuse her too much. I'm still a lil' upset aobut it because I really really wanted to BF.

Heather, try not to be too scared. I was the same way & the recovery is kinda tough but it is ALL worth it in the end.

Grace, I can't wait for the mail!!!! Maybe that will calm her some at night!

I would keep trying with the breastfeeding. It is SO worth it. Maybe get a hold of the Lactation Consultant from your hospital or your local La Leche League. In a pinch, the ladies at www.kellymom.com are really helpful and nice in a non-guilt-inducing-lactivist way.

It is normal for a baby to be confused about night and day for the first few weeks and want to be up in the middle of the night. Just try to keep in dark and quiet at night and bright and active during the day. Fussy evenings are also SUPER common. I think that's when they want back in the womb the most. Sometimes they want to cluster feed in the evening to tank up for a longer bit of sleep at night too. If her gassiness doesn't improve, maybe ask your pedi about a dairy free formula.

I'll be praying for you! Sling will be the mail ASAP.

When Audrey was born we started with a lot of formula. I still put her to the breast, but she seemed so hungry so I gave her formula. She didn't have any problems catching on to breastfeeding once my milk came in and I was sure she wasn't starving. She still gets formula a few times a week when its really inconvenient to nurse. We started with similac but she was really gassy and spit up a ton. Next we tried enfamil and that was worse. We got the carnation good start comfort protein stuff and she doesn't have any problems with that. It does seem like she's hungrier sooner than she was with the other formulas, though.

SOFB, guess because colustrun wasn't enough for her at that time this was right after she was born. It was medically necessary. She would have had to go backto NICU.

We were told to try Nutremegan formula so we will see. I'm still nervous about trying to get her to BF after beibg on formula & maybe not getting enough milk. Not sure when or how long I will have the milk.
