  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Which people use fire for fishing?

People living in the islands of the Pacific Ocean
use fire to fish at night.
They set fire to the branches of the coconut tree
and hang them over the side of their boats.
The fish swim towards the light
and end up being caught by the islanders’ spears.

Phoenician in origin, a crude script.This alphabet, dating from 16 00 B.C.
first Greek alphabet developed from the Phoenician one during the fifth century B.C., known as the iconic alphabet had 24 characters.
Romans adopted this alphabet

My answer follows

Who invented the alphabet?

Archaeologists have determined that the first workable alphabet was Phoenician in origin,
and written as a crude script.
However, each letter stood for a sound, and had a symbol of its own.
This alphabet, dating from 1600 BC, is the ancestor of all modern Western alphabets.
Once introduced, it spread rapidly through the Middle East and finally, people of the time
were able to write out complete words.

Ideas could be expressed much more easily than before, and narrative stories
and poetry began to appear.
The first Greek alphabet was developed from the Phoenician one during the fifth century BC.
It was changed, improved, and extended until it had great flexibility.
It became known as the Ionic alphabet and had 24 characters.
When the Romans smashed the Greek Empire, they adopted this alphabet
and adapted it to their own needs.

Congratulations Daniel
