  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

wow yesterday was amazing! I accidently stumbled on a church yesterday whilst trying to get to the train station. I had just been to my own church which was a bit rubbish that day. Any how I forgot where the station was because i got a huge headache, but then i saw an old anglican-methodist church but with the door open. it was 3.30pm so i thought maybe i am 'supposed' to go in. I saw that one of these trendy modern churchs were using this old church in the afternoons because they were having a service starting at 4pm. What else was strange was when i saw that it was the sister church of my church. kind of the same denomination if you like. infact i recognised some of the church as people who had been in my church buit had now moived. boviously i was meant to be there . i talked to a few people and it was really good. they were lovely andf the church were my cup of tea. the sermon was about the church planning ministry for the next year. there was a lot of talk of social action with the homeless, poor and refugees etc... So after the service we all went for a cup of tea. I got talking with one guy. I think he was homeless or something like that. I told him of hopw the holy spirit had blown me in. He told me it wasnt a coincidence and then like he was having a word from the Lord he told me that i was meant to be here and to serve in ministry.

I felt this was a propechy especially because i had been praying for god to reveal his plan for me since last octber. I have never been anything other than congregration member before and if the Lord has called me to ministry then I am very flattered that he trusts me with this. anyhow i know people can mishear and false prophets are something to be aware of. so i am going to test this prophecy to see if it is of God. I dont even know what sort of ministry God wants me in either. so to test it i am going to get together with three different people at different times this week. 1stly i will pray with a christian who isnt anything to do with either this new church or my own church. then i will prayer with my own minister, and providing they both get conviction from the Spirit i will finally pray with the pastor of this new church. If all three get the same conviction then it is of God and i am to go to the next stage. I am willing to take this step but only if it is Gods will. Going into ministry could be fun but i want to do it for Gods glory not my glory! If it is Gods will for me to move into ministry then I accept. If it is Gods will for me not to move into ministry then i accept his will. "let your will be doner, not mine"!

Can you pray for Gods Will to be done and for it to become a little clearer?

Dear Father In Heaven,

I pray for Bonhoffer Lord that he would know your will on whether to go into ministry or not. Please give the people he speaks to wisdom to guide him with their advice. He wants to be sure it is your will for him. Please give him guidance. Thank you Lord, In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Hey there Bonhoffer. All this prayer is good for you. Becomeing some kind of clergy or what not, it is a frightening thing because your life, your work is dependant on your faith. That said if you are adequate to the task do not be dissuaded by what anyone else has to say to you. If you have the faith that you can help people find God's path then please do it. I do not know what will become of your prayers with these other pastures, but everyone holds ego and even the most enlightened are sometimes intimidated. It is by your own faith that you will be a good witness of God so remember that most of all.

There are many preachers out there that I believe are not suited to the task. That preach money, or polotics. If God has truely enlightened you to his will it is your job and your honor to fulfill it and help where others have failed.

Ask yourself some questions to see if you may be suited to the task,

Do you believe your prayers effect the outcome of the world?
Do you believe that God has a plan for everyone? That not everyone has the same plan?
Can you accept that God alows some people to suffer? Do you understand why?
And most difficult, can you be a good example of what you believe. Can you lead others not just by words but by actions? Can you be open with your faults?

I think these are important questions for anyone that is considering what you are considering. It is your answers that count however, not anyone elses, and you may have your own questions as well. I will pray that God strengthens your faith and that you are able to follow his will in these matters.
