  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In OT, scripture was often read to the people. It was assumed they would understand its meaning. In the NT, Paul's letters, for example, were written to the ordinary folks in the churches. They were written straightforward. They were written to be understood. No decoder ring necessary.

God’s interpretation is the understanding found when you follow the strings of text, woven throughout the KJV Bible.

This is an excellent observation. God's Word explains God's Word. The "interpretations" of man should be viewed with high suspicion without scriptural support.

I love my KJVO brothers and sisters. But every time this topic is brought up, it basically goes like this.

The KJV is a perfect translation. Here are some verses.

"Um, I don't think those verses support what you're claiming."

Then show me verses that say I'm wrong.

That's circular reasoning.

"The KJV is perfect because of godly influence, and because of godly influence, it's perfect."
Let me re-state that, The KJV is perfect because of godly influence.

And you know it specifically has godly influence how?
I can show you but you must first agree to look at the KJV only in our study.

The reason the KJV is perfect is because the Creation week has occurred an estimated one quintillion times, there are no discrepancies, or errors.

It's a shame all the Christians before the KJV didn't have a shot at knowing God's interpretation.
The truth of the matter is that the RCC kept the Scriptures (Latin Vulgate) primarily for their clergy, and taught their adherents that only their Church could interpret the Bible correctly. So millions of Christians did not really know what was in the Bible for almost 1,000 years.

But long before the KJV, Wycliffe and others began to translate the Word into the common language, and these men were opposed by the clerics. Let's never forget that the Catholic Church martyred William Tyndale precisely for the *sin* of making the Scriptures available to the common man, and they also burned his Bibles.

As to the KJV, we need to be clear as to its merits, as well as some of the misinformation that its supporters have circulated about it. Only the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures are Divinely inspired, but the Authorized Version is an outstanding translation in English, and in English-speaking countries it was regarded as THE Bible for hundreds of years. There are, however, equivalent translations in other languages also.

I can't find quintillion in the KJV.
"As the sand of the sea," in Genesis 22:17 & Genesis 32:12 has been estimated to represent one quintillion grains of sand.

I will, for sake of argument.
The Word of God is built on these doublet of days found in the KJV Bible. In fact, the demonstration Paul gives us in 2 Peter 3:3-8, is his representation of this doublet of days; it ends on the fourth day, with his instruction for those of the twenty-first Century.

Uh, Paul wrote 2 Peter?
