  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well I'm saying that nothing but god's acceptance of that situation explains it's existence and god is the one who actually does the destroying, Jesus actually says god destroys people's bodies and souls.

I blame the god character in that book, he is the only being who has ever been able to do anything and everything they wanted to and knew everything that would ever take place. But I can't really go on with that because it would eventually be considered blasphemy.

Yes Jesus does say that God is able to destroy both body and soul - but I honestly do believe that God's primary concern is for humans to be with Him and avoid that fate. God is able to "cause" that destruction by banishing those who rejected Him to a place where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, etc. That place is torment and it will feel like the body and soul are being destroyed and that God has caused them to be there, but God has to administer the ultimate justice according to His Word and as I understand it there are two alternatives - a place of good or a place of evil.

I would not want you to blaspheme and I do not want to get too heavily into something that may cause you to express stronger than appropriate sentiments about God. If you want to reply I'll be happy to read your comments but I'm also content if you want to have the last word and leave it at that. :)

Yeah I can't really respond much to this. I would eventually end up expressing certain sentiments about that character that I cannot express on this forum.

I'll simply say that an omnipotent god doesn't fail to do anything, if something happens then that's what he wanted.. Him being omniscient means he always knew it was going to happen, his omnipotence means he didn't actually want to prevent it or else he would have because he easily could have. He acts like he tried really hard and he has a reason to cry as he sets us on fire but all he had to do was not make a stupid rule like "if you ever do something wrong I have to torment you forever, no matter what it is or if you knew any better or had a choice"

The bible god wants worshipers and he kills the rest, as if someone kissing your feet and singing your name forever was so important.

hmmm... uhm, it's totally anecdotal but yeah, I've totally experienced a Christian saying that God came to earth so that he could relate to us. So he could walk a mile in our shoes.

As several poster already said, I am sure what he said was God send Jesus in flesh so we could related to God easier.
