• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I certainly didn't intend for it to sound accusatory against you. A simplified version is: Don't work so hard to be a good person (decent) as you are now. Rely more on Jesus Christ's grace. There is alot more to life than just suffering.

Now that I thought about it, are you expecting me to "get over it"?

My financial situation, my depression, and the fact that I feel like a loser

Well depression and perception of self are not as cut and dry as finances. (Not saying that finances are easy to solve - just that they lend themselves to ideas on how to solve them a little easier.)

Depression and perceptions of self can take a lot of work and soul searching. Perceptions of self are driven by thought processes, which in turn can leave depression as a byproduct. And if you can't solve perception of self issue, you will not be able to solve the other two.

Do you know what cognitive behavioral therapy is? Your first step is addressing feeling like a loser. And I know it doesn't help for people just to say "oh, you're not a loser." (Maybe that's true, but it doesn't solve my problems.) I found the book "Self Matters" by Dr. Phil very helpful.

As per you and God; being angry at Him is not going to solve your problems either. I've had a very challenging life; but I learned / came to the conviction early on in my Christian walk that I needed God's help too much to be mad at Him over where my life was at. And besides the fact, I knew the things that happened to me ultimately were not God's fault.

So, I don't know if that's helpful?

While I appreciate your reply, I found it to be somewhat unhelpful

He blesses the ungodly with everything they want, while I, who try to please Him, get screwed...EVERY...SINGLE...TIME... Maybe it's best I quit on Him, as all I get in return is problem after problem.

Psalm 37 Living Bible (TLB)
37 Never envy the wicked! 2 Soon they fade away like grass and disappear. 3 Trust in the Lord instead. Be kind and good to others; then you will live safely here in the land and prosper, feeding in safety.

4 Be delighted with the Lord. Then he will give you all your heart’s desires. 5 Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him to help you do it, and he will. 6 Your innocence will be clear to everyone. He will vindicate you with the blazing light of justice shining down as from the noonday sun.

7 Rest in the Lord; wait patiently for him to act. Don’t be envious of evil men who prosper.

8 Stop your anger! Turn off your wrath. Don’t fret and worry—it only leads to harm. 9 For the wicked shall be destroyed, but those who trust the Lord shall be given every blessing. 10 Only a little while and the wicked shall disappear. You will look for them in vain. 11 But all who humble themselves before the Lord shall be given every blessing and shall have wonderful peace.

12-13 The Lord is laughing at those who plot against the godly, for he knows their judgment day is coming. 14 Evil men take aim to slay the poor; they are ready to butcher those who do right. 15 But their swords will be plunged into their own hearts, and all their weapons will be broken.

16 It is better to have little and be godly than to own an evil man’s wealth; 17 for the strength of evil men shall be broken, but the Lord takes care of those he has forgiven.

18 Day by day the Lord observes the good deeds done by godly men,and gives them eternal rewards. 19 He cares for them when times are hard; even in famine, they will have enough. 20 But evil men shall perish. These enemies of God will wither like grass and disappear like smoke. 21 Evil men borrow and “cannot pay it back”! But the good man returns what he owes with some extra besides. 22 Those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the earth, but those cursed by him shall die.

23 The steps of good men are directed by the Lord. He delights in each step they take. 24 If they fall, it isn’t fatal, for the Lord holds them with his hand.

25 I have been young and now I am old. And in all my years I have never seen the Lord forsake a man who loves him; nor have I seen the children of the godly go hungry. 26 Instead, the godly are able to be generous with their gifts and loans to others, and their children are a blessing.

27 So if you want an eternal home, leave your evil, low-down ways and live good lives. 28 For the Lord loves justice and fairness; he will never abandon his people. They will be kept safe forever; but all who love wickedness shall perish."

trust God will deal with the ungodly on His time, dont be jealous of what evil doers are getting, they will be humbled and brought down eventually.focus on storing up treasures in heaven, be patient and continue to do what God has called you to do. i know its hard seeing evildoers seeming like they are winning but they are not, soon they will be cut down.

Beloved, Your faith is being tested! Know this scripture... though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in various trials 7so that the authenticity of your faith— more precious than gold, which perishes even thoughrefined by fire— may result in praise, glory, andhonor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ................PS ive been feeling like you have lately but I have no control over it and still Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. SO you have no other option dear one, but to follow Jesus-he is the way....PSS have you ever tried fasting?
