Sometimes I wonder about that very thing, possibly as Enoch first began to weigh-in from a child towards that "walk". Well, there is no one at all to say He didn't possess the same "nature" as Elijah, and we know the scripture indicates nothing in vain, Enoch sought His face just as the 4th verse says of this particular man. But neither did he do it without Elijah's, nor subsequently as it is written, our nature. Against the current, it isn't natural to want to deny our own preferences as he was surely in the habit of making the choice for. Where is the heart for seeking with such persistence? Can today's humanity mount up such an effective quest given what degree the tree has now become (Lk 23:31)?
But God has always had a people, many suffer inwardly, outwardly and by acquaintance. He has sent His word all the way to us in several areas saying till He "comes", so yes, always to seek His face is appropriate for today's man. So then, not a matter of enduring the weight for whom He sets free. The "joy of the Lord is our strength", His truth of forgiveness, confession and regeneration is appropriate for such seeking, Amen!
