I am very confused about this.
A very popular minister said this recently, my words. Since i am still confused about it after hearing this sermon twice i still need to hear it again.
He said don't expect God to do things you ask him to do. I've waited 50 years and it hasn't happened. I'm thinking he's talking about things like, help me not to eat to much,. Help me to make this green light. Help me make it to the bathroom, etc. Daily things? I ask God daily so many times for all my needs. This is a shock to me. What do you think?
Ask Him; I think He loves to help His children (1Peter 5v7).

I found this by David Jeremiah which seems to say that we should ask God for help. I haven't had time to listen to much of it so I hope it's relevant.

I ask the Lord for all sorts of things - the large stuff: where He wants me to live, work, go to church etc, but also the small things too. When I was driving to clients, in my last job, I often asked for a parking space. If we're walking in His will I think it's fine to ask the Lord for help. Of course He's sovereign so He may answer in a different way to how we expect, but He's always provided for my needs; praise Him.

I have soime major life shifting issues going on at the moment. Worse, there are several impacting me at once . It's moments like these, for all the years I have prayed; that one hopes that God will answer. What choice does one have but to keep trying to reach out?
I'm sorry you're going through difficulties and pray that the Lord will guide and bless you. I can testify to the Lord unravelling all sorts of things for me. Keep bringing your issues before Him; He will answer. (Psalms 23 & 46 and Isaiah 43v2 may help.)

I know this about him that's why i couldn't understand why and what he had said. It made no sense. Even yesterday's was a complete opposite of his questionable sermon??

@Carl Emerson :
Most common answer i get is no, but he will be with you to support you. This in regards to most everything that you may ask for that you may struggle to do. Example:. I have no cooling for the summer and have no answer for it and other similar things. Am i foolish to think he will answer this?

1 John 5

14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

Verse 15 is conditional on verse 14...

We pray every day together - all matters of concern are put to Him.

We needed $1000 some time back and a friend who we hadn't heard from for 4 years or so rang and asked for our bank account.

He made a deposit without knowing how much we needed.

Yes you guessed...

$1000.

God isn't a gumball machine: put a prayer in and get a reward in return.

God gives us his Holy Spirit and if we have His Spirit we grow in the fruits of the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit, we turn to seek His Will, not our own Will and when our will is lined up with His, then we receive what we ask. I remember reading Proverbs 10:3 and Matthew 6:33 when I was younger. This was at a time when I was fearful of being able to get daily nutrition. And I understood that receiving our daily needs from God does come with a stipulation: first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness and then all these things will be added unto you.

When we are seeking His kingdom and his righteousness, not our own righteousness, but His, then he will perform His word.

One fruit of the spirit is self-control, so someone who has a problem with their weight or an eating disorder or covetousness or anything, if they are practicing and growing in self control they will overcome whatever issue is holding them captive: but it takes work on our part too. Without practicing righteousness, you cannot become righteous; so we have to exercise the spirit. When a tempting piece of cake enters the room, we practice will-power and we, over time, build endurance until the cake (or anything sinful or unhealthy for the Christian life) no longer becomes a temptation but an abhorrence when it walks into our lives.

Do you have the exact links to the sermons with a timestamp: I'd be interested to see what he said.
