  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God came through!

God promised me that by the end of the school year, I'd be free of my addiction to pornography. Satan fought hard to try to keep me addicted. The more resolved I was to quit, the more demons of addiction became attatched to my heart.
But on the last day of school, the struggle was the greatest it had ever been, and when I had almost given up hope, the Lord came through for me! With His help I took every demon out of my heart, called them out by name one by one. Then, after ten minutes of that, I was so weak I fell to the ground, and nearly passed out.
As I lay there, I felt Jesus in the room with me, and He stooped over me and told me to say awake "Stay with me!" is what He said. He began to clean away evil things in my heart, warning me that "This is going to hurt. Alot." I spent the next ten minutes writhing in spiritual pain as he cut deep into my heart to remove everything that contributed to the evil things I was involved with. Then, when all was over, I spent probably another five minutes just thanking Him and praising Him.
After that, He told me (can you belive this?) to look up Hebrews 12:19 and read from there. I did, and the whole thing spoke to me about the awesome power of God, how terrifying it was. And the verse that hit me the most was 26-27
"When He spoke from Mount Sinai His vioce shok the earth, but "Next time," He says, "I will not only shake the earth, but the heavens too." By this He means that He will sift out everything without solid foundations, so that only unshakable things will be left."
That's what He was doing to my heart, he removed everything unstable from it, so all that was left was my true heart, and His unshakable Spirit.

GOD IS AWESOME!!!

It was God who gave us the determination to overcome unhealthy thoughts and habits. And it was God who gave us the endurance to wait for his healing. And it was God who delivered us from the sinful thoughts and habits. How can we not praise the Lord of all nations and languages.

At times the strong man seemed to be too strong for us and we were of no match. Hoping seemed to be in vain. The Devil said, "You are a failure. You should be ashamed of calling youself a believer." And our conscience had no choice but to admit our failure and condemned us. We were drawing nearer to the Pit.

Then we called Jesus, and he came right on time. He did not despise us. Rather, he had compassion for us and poured his spirit on us. When we were at the verge of Sheol, he sent his words and with the power of his words he defeated his foes, which now have become our enemies.

In one heart we praise Jesus. In one mind we obey his words. In one spirit we join our brothers to proclaim the gospel of Jesus, for he is our Lord and Savior. Amen.

I have had a worse problem than pornography (it was like pornography was on mind all the time, so that I could not avoid it) but the words here, in reverance of the Word of God, have helped me a great deal. As I read I said to myself "I would be prepared to endure great pain to be free of my problem!" and the Lord was faithful and it got better. I do not yet know how much better it is.

Thankyou for providing scripture, that was especially helpful (not least because of your deep connection with what you know is written in Hebrews!).
