Hey Everyone! Im new but i figured id jump right in  . Anyways my question to you is do you believe in Ghosts?

A lot of Christians that ive met dont and i dont quite understand how.

I personally have had experiences with ghosts . well either that or im just crazy im not quite sure which. I just moved down south to go to school. In my old house, there was a ghost. Occasionally there would be knocking on doors or youd hear someone walk by and no one would be in sight. Things would come on by themselves quite often. You would always hear or things or see things out of the corner of your eye. It was really strange. One night actually just as an example there was a keyboard in my nieces room. Well it kept turning on. My dad went in and looked around and then turned the light back off and went back in his room. Then the keyboard went off again only now it played seven notes and then turned off. Things like that tend to happen. In fact my whole family has had experiences with ghosts. My aunt when she was little always used to point at the tree in front of where they lived and say there was someone up there. Nobody could see anyone so they thought she was making it up. Now 50 years later my little cousin who has never heard the story says the same thing about the same tree only she freaks because shes scared by whoevers up there. My niece lives with us and she actually yelled one time at the "ghost" for walking in my parents office. She said he wouldnt talk but hes "got eyebrows." (keep in mind shes 3)
And now even though ive moved , tonight i heard people talking like they were in the next room so unless someones in my house theres ghosts because there isnt any way id be able to hear someone as clear as i could but i guess youd have to know the house. and the other day my radio went from fm to am and its a push switch. Yeah so anyways obviously i believe in ghosts and i was just wondering if anyone else had any experiences. I have tons more if you want to hear but im not going to keep rambling if you dont lol. If you dont belive, just out of curiousty why? No one really has ever giving me a reason for not believign and i just was wondering.

Hi lismiles, welcome! I do believe that ghosts do exist, but as Jeffrey posted, I am also unaware of the Church's stance on this. I heard that they may be spirits that have not passed on due to one reason or another. I think if I had experienced what you have, I'd be scared out of my wits! Have you accepted them as just being there, or do they frighten you?

Thank you for all the welcomes!!

Fiat - So far nothing scary (like messages to get out) has happened so ive just pretty much accepted it. I mean it took a lot to get me to think it was real but now that i believe it , it really doesnt bother me for some reason. well except late at night when your alone and you hear footsteps outside your door eesh. but i think the idea of strangers in the house scares me more than ghosts

I think ghosts are probably souls in purgatory...after all, we dont know where purgatory is...if it even is anywhere, or just a state of being...its possible, I suppose.
That's interesting because i was considering that possibility also. The more i think about it, the more logical it becomes. Its just interesting to me to know im not the only one who considers the possibility.

Well, I don't believe in purgatory for one thing, so that explanation is out (for me at least). I believe that a person goes straight to heaven or hell immediately after death, like the robber on the cross, when Jesus said in Luke 23:43 "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
While I don't believe in ghosts, I do believe in demons, which is what I think you are having experiences with. I also believe that demos have knowledge of those who have passed away, such as past experiences of the deceased. So demons are very capable of making themselves like a ghost.

But Jesus didn't go to Heaven when he died on the cross... he want to the spirit prision (purgatory).

"For Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the sake of the unrighteous, that he might lead you to God. Put to death in the flesh, he was brought to life in the spirit. In it he also went to preach to the spirits in prison..." - 1 Peter 3:18-19

And the apostles creed:

suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead.

Jesus was in hell? Now this is a new one to me.

I read a little article about ghosts, it was basically saying that souls either go up or down, and they do not tarry in whatever form on this earth. Easily, the master of deception can disguise his forces to take on whatever shape they so desire.

So yeah, I'd say that ghosts are demons.

ghosts are really demons. when you die your spiriti goes to heaven or hell and does not get trapped somewhere. i have head some expierence with the occult and my advice is to stay away from it !! but also remember--greater is He that is in you then he that is in the world. the correct term would be enity--not ghost.

Yeah so i dont know if theyre demons are what. What i do know is that the spirits at my current residence give me a different feeling then the ones at my previous residence. The ones here are making themselves more noticebale. Besides the conversation and the radio, i saw a reflection of a figure in my computer screen. The figure was peering over from a doorway and i just dont know what to do. Im not sure if its a demon or a ghost but i know that i didnt mind the ghost at my other house and this one freaks me out. The one at my old house more or less just seemed to be joking. It never madea noise or did anythign while we were in the shower. And the worse it ever did to make itself noticeable was play with my nieces toys. I am probably going to talk to someone at my church. I dont know but thank you for all your info. Im just really freaked right now.

Prayer affects demons. Er...

Mar 9:23 And Jesus said to him, " 'If You can?' All things are possible to him who believes."
Mar 9:24 Immediately the boy's father cried out and said, "I do believe; help my unbelief."
Mar 9:25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You deaf and mute spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again."
Mar 9:26 After crying out and throwing him into terrible convulsions, it came out; and {the boy} became so much like a corpse that most {of them} said, "He is dead!"
Mar 9:27 But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him; and he got up.
Mar 9:28 When He came into {the} house, His disciples {began} questioning Him privately, "Why could we not drive it out?"
Mar 9:29 And He said to them, "This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer."
