There are a few members I recognise and have an idea of what I think their personalities are, but I think it would be good to make friends. Maybe have a Christian chat thread/area going on. So I'm DeerGlow, Deer, or DG. I like to learn languages (like Italian, German, French, and Japanese), I am interested in painting/drawing, and I like to read and write fiction. My favourite singers are Huang Zi Tao (CPOP), KAITO (Japanese, vocaloid), and the band SHINee (kpop). Hm.... I like playing classic solitaire and used to like spider solitaire.... I can't think of much, but am excited to get started! :)

My name is Sam. I am almost 40 years old. I am Korean-American. I was born and raised in California. With the exception of a 9 year period when I lived in South Korea, I have lived in California continuously since I was born.

After graduating from university, I lived in South Korea from 2003 to 2012 and taught English conversation classes in my mother and father’s hometown.

I currently live in a house that is run by a Christian ministry. I live with 4 housemates. Not all of them are Christian believers, so I am praying for their salvation. I moved out of Dad’s house 3 months ago.

I attended Christian churches from the time I was born. I made a public profession of faith in 1996 when I was a high school student. During the past month, God has been doing something wonderful in my heart.

I grew up in Korean Presbyterian churches here in California. I am a member of a local Church of the Nazarene. I speak English (of course). I am also fairly fluent in Korean. I have a rudimentary knowledge of the Spanish language (greetings mostly).

Currently, I attend Bible study three times per week. I also volunteer every week in the used bookstore of two different local public libraries. I want to be a case worker, counselor or licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

I enjoy watching Fuller House on Netflix. My all-time favorite authors are Joseph Girzone (author of the Joshua series), Max Lucado, Philip Yancey, and Brennan Manning (author of The Ragamuffin Gospel).

My favorite books are Max Lucado's Six Hours One Friday, Brennan Manning's The Ragamuffin Gospel, Walter Wangerin's Book of God, and Dinner with a Perfect Stranger by David Gregory.

My favorite song is Take My Hand and Walk by The Kry. Another favorite song is If I Didn't Have You by K2S

I have been a CF member since the end of February 2017.

Hi, Deer Glow. I've enjoyed reading your posts and participating with you in Bible study. I enjoy reading in general, especially history, theology, and literature. My knowledge of science fiction and comic book genres is limited, but they are areas of interests. Also, I enjoy listening to music, especially blues guitar. St. Vincent and Gin Wigmore are a couple modern rock favorites. I've also started a novel, which I hope to finish within a year. (I need to finish a couple of books.) It will be a technological thriller containing a Gospel message.

I am Susan. I live in Ohio and have lived here all my life. I am 46. I am of Irish/Welsh/German/British/Scottish/ Native American descent. I live with my mom, caring for her by myself since my dad passed away last August. I am on disability due to spinal injuries and also clinical depression. I am single, never married, no children.

I used to love video games but I don't have the time for them anymore. I love to read but my main hobby for the past 3 years has been transcribing the Bible for my great niece, who is now 2 years old. My niece and her husband had been trying for a child for 4 years when she found out she was pregnant, and shortly thereafter it was put on my heart to take on this project. I am writing in leather-bound journals with handmade paper. I have just finished the New Testament.

When I do read I love books on Bible history and culture, Biblical theology, Christian living and some fringe topics regarding the Bible and prophecy.

I love watching documentaries, Biblical teachings and my favorite show Everybody Loves Raymond.

I love to laugh and joke around. Life is too hard to not balance it out with laughter. I consider myself down to earth and am happiest surrounded by nature. I take care of 5 cats (4 rescues and an outside feral cat who adopted me in January 2017).

Love, laughter and faith - the 3 things most important to me.

I'm a cat person also. My wife and I have one at home. We love him, even though he can be a handful at times. Also, we put water and food out for an outside cat at my Mother-in-law's house. This cat is friendly, and we would take her in too, but our at-home cat (a boy) is territorial.

You seem to be very patient with me, although I think we have denominational differences sometimes. I want to help with your mortal sin comments but I don't know if I could really help. I would think you also seem very calm and self-controlled, like you don't get angry or overly emotional easily.
Wow, I'm flattered! I do struggle with anger issues quite a bit, as a few people here on CF can attest. However I am improving fairly well, with my anger issues thanks to the grace of God, I'm way better than I was in the past. Don't worry about annoying me, I'm more than happy to help you. In fact, occasionally, you actually remind me a bit of myself when I was younger.

I'll tell you a bit of myself later, I've only just got home, and there are a few things I need to look into first.

So about me, I have a great interest in the intellectual and philosophical history of the Christianity, and have an interest in history and philosophy in general. I also have an interest in foreign languages, but haven't yet around to learning one yet. I'm also a fan of Tolkein's work and have minor interest in mythology.

Tolkien? Have you read the Silmarillion?

Yeah I have started reading The Silmarillion, I'm currently at the part where Aredhel is staying Eol's place. Unfortunately, I got up with other things and haven't been reading for awhile. But I guess I will take it up again, I could use some recreation, and Tolkein's the best form of recreation a Christian can have!

I got halfway and don't remember too much anymore. Still remember the elf being tortured. :(

Hi DeerGlow,

I feel like I already know you well, having prayed for you so often recently.

Just call me Shoe (hence, Shoe to you). I'm a married father of two grown children, and a Christian since my adolescence when I found Jesus by the banks of a lake, when I was at my lowest, weighed down by heavy black shadows. I've strayed and come back over the years, but now have walked in His Way for many years.

Languages are not my forte, but I speak and understand English, some French, and have been trying to learn Japanese, German and Danish from Duolingo (without much success). I spent 6 years studying Latin (classical, not ecclesiastic) in middle and high school.

I write a bit, but not much recently. I like to read, especially theology and practical Christian living books, but also science fiction and fantasy. I used to play piano and clarinet, and am currently trying to learn guitar (with little success).

I have worked in the medical field for the last 26 years, seeing the best and worst that humanity has to offer (or at least the results of such).

I belong to a liturgical, charismatic and evangelical church, and facilitate its youth group (as unqualified as I am).

That's probably enough about me for now.

Non nobis, Domine, sed nomine tuo da gloriam!

I have Rosetta Stone for French and Spanish from when I was homeschooling my kids. It works well enough for me. Duolingo should work well too - I find that I just don't stick with it long enough ... that, and I inherited my father's lack of language ability.

I love your Tolkien quote, by the way. It is one that I use quite often. Tolkien has been my favorite for many years...The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, and others... good stuff.

There are some good language learning resources out there. Another is reading family Bible passages in another language, over and over.

Duolingo has a flash card app too, tinycards, and there is memrise that are free. Bable seems okay if you're willing to subscribe.
